Our Alumni are SO BACK!

For the first time in history, BBCS opened our doors to welcome our Alumni back home.

Where did our Alumni go?

Since our first graduation ceremony in spring 2020, Bridge Boston knows we have sent incredible classes of young adult scholars out into the world for four years in a row. Our first-ever attempt to reach our Alumni began in the fall with the launch of Back 2 Bridge, our quarterly Alumni newsletter as we geared up for our big event: a basketball game, accompanied with pizza, wings, tshirts, and a slideshow. We honestly expected that over 100 RSVPs must’ve been a typo.

But it wasn’t a typo at all. Greeted by their favorite smiling teachers and 150 of their former classmates, our Bridge Alumni joined us back in the gym for exactly that: basketball, food, & fond memories. Prior to the game, our Alumni were found sharing hugs, laughs, and old stories, meanwhile lacing up their shoes and warming up to play.

Who are Bridge Alumni?

Every single grade, from our very first Class of 2020 all the way to our current 8th graders (soon-to-be Alumni!) was represented on the court or in the stands. The majority of our alumni were with us for the long hall: they began at Bridge in K1 and stayed all the way through their eighth grade graduation. Our first generation of Bridge Boston Alumni are currently seniors in high school, many of which are preparing to go off to college at places like Howard University, Dartmouth College, Syracuse University, Curry College, and Framingham State University.

Our Commitment to Full-Service

Being full-service, it is of utmost importance to us to ensure our scholars are prepared not only for school, but for the life ahead of them. Keeping in touch with our alumni means we can accurately gauge the success of our programs and continue to provide our students with rigorous coursework, intentional social-emotional learning opportunities, and strong mentors. While we had their attention, we surveyed our alumni: responses from every student indicated that they are on-track to finish high school in 4 years. Our alumni also self-reported that since beginning high school, over 80% have taken on at least one leadership role in a club, sports team, job, or volunteer position. Bridge is preparing scholars to not only succeed, but lead!

It All Comes Back to Community

Keeping in touch with our Alumni is important to Bridge Boston because we want to keep our community connected. 94% of our Alumni survey responses indicated that they were proud to have attended Bridge Boston Charter School, showing our community continues to impact our students even after they leave. Given the exciting success of our first Alumni celebration, we look forward to inviting our Alumni back home to BBCS on a yearly basis. Whether it's lifelong social-emotional skills or simply shooting hoops with old buddies, Bridge is a place where our Alumni still feel proud and supported.

After all, our mission says: Bridge Boston Charter School is an inclusive and joyful community that combines a dynamic academic and social emotional learning program with an innovative full service model in order to meet the needs of the whole child and ensure our Scholars can achieve their greatest potential in high school and beyond.

Because of their time at Bridge, we know our alumni are equipped to make a bold difference in our world.
