for your generosity during our recent Pandemic Relief Campaign. Once again, you have shown your giving spirit and dedication to our community and to The Bridge Fund’s mission.
In mid-April, Sandy and Vince Lovelle and Barb and Fred Sutherland challenged the Pelican Landing community to match their combined contributions of $50,000 through the end of May. Together, the community rose to this challenge and raised over $210,000. Because of this tremendous response, The Bridge Fund was able to immediately begin addressing the unprecedented needs in our local area—and there are many.
Inspired by the Lovelle and Sutherland challenge, Colony residents Cindy and John Paul have generously offered an additional match of up to $25,000 through June 15 to encourage even more participation.
As a result of your outstanding support, The Bridg
e Fund has m
ade over 80 pandemic-related awards to date. Here are a few examples of assistance provided to our local commu
- Many local social service agencies are experiencing extraordinary increases in the number of families needing food. With your support, we have helped thousands of families by providing funds to existing and pop-up food pantries in our local area. A Meals of Hope provider said, “Your gift will have a huge impact on families in Bonita Springs and Immokalee."
- Due to the pandemic, many face unemployment, and often The Bridge Fund is there to help. For example, one family’s only wage earner was hospitalized for weeks with COVID-19 and then was quarantined for two additional weeks before he could go back to work. Upon his return, he learned his hours were reduced. The Bridge Fund assisted with rent and utility payments.
- The Bridge Fund supported our partner, Community Cooperative, with desperately needed funds to purchase food for hundreds of families. Tracey Galloway, CEO, said, “Your gift enables us to continue serving our community through innovative approaches for ending hunger and homelessness.”
Generosity is often contagious, and it brings out the best in us. Please know how much we appreciate the growing number of Bridge Fund Family members. For those who would like to learn more about The Bridge Fund, please visit our website,
