•  In March, it became apparent that food was going to be the greatest challenge of the pandemic. TBF quickly moved to get groceries and prepared meals to those who suddenly found themselves unable to provide for their families. By year’s end, TBF had disbursed over $100,000 to pop-up, mobile and small neighborhood food distribution sites, helping thousands of our neighbors.

•  Assistance with rent and utilities were next. While the moratorium on evictions allowed many families to stay in place, past due rent continued to accumulate. In addition, electricity and water were shut off when bills remained unpaid. By the end of December, TBF had assisted families with more than $200,000 in rent and utilities. When the moratorium is lifted, we expect requests for rent will increase exponentially.

• Within normal operations, our programs for head lice treatments and beds for kids and adults sleeping on the floor continued, along with the need for medical/dental care and transportation.

• The outpouring of support in response to the Lovelle/Sutherland/Paul Challenge Match in the spring exceeded our expectations and positioned us to respond to pandemic-related requests.

• The Classical Music Concert, Fun Run and Pickleball fundraisers in January and February were enthusiastically supported. Other planned events couldn’t be held, but those who registered kindly allowed TBF to retain entry fees as donations. 

• Although the live spring auction had to be cancelled, a dedicated group of volunteers adjusted on the fly and pulled off a very successful on-line auction in December.
