Shawn Thornton, President of Joni and Friends, will be our guest speaker this Sunday.

Before coming to Joni and Friends, Shawn served for nearly seventeen years as Senior Pastor of Calvary Community Church in Westlake.

Shawn grew up in Northern Indiana, where he experienced a solid Christian, but personally traumatic, childhood. God used the brain injury his mother suffered in a car crash to develop a pastor’s heart in Shawn. While his mother’s limitations created a challenging home environment, she was a woman of deep faith. His mother had a copy of Joni Eareckson Tada’s autobiography never far from her as she moved around the house. On difficult days, Shawn’s mother would say, “If Joni can make it, I can make it.”

What's your BEEF with Christianity?

Join us this summer as Young Adults at the Bridge seek answers to tough questions facing Christianity today.

Maybe you've been challenged by questions such as:

Doesn't religion cause violence?

Hasn't science disproved Christianity?

Doesn't Christianity denigrate women?

Isn't Christianity homophobic?

Doesn't the Bible condone slavery?

How could a loving God send people to hell?

We will use the book Confronting Christianity by Rebecca Mclaughlin together with sources from history, current events, and personal experience, to have open, safe,

and honest discussions. You don't have to be a Christian to come, and we encourage you to invite friends no matter what they might believe.

Meetings will start on June 4 and continue on Wednesday evenings from 7 to 9 at the

home of James and Julie Paik.

Yummy snacks and beverages will be served; all are

welcome!
