Letters From Leaders

By Kim Strandemo

Franklin Academy Principal

Welcome back to school. We are two weeks into our new school year and I am very excited about what this year will bring. The excitement about the year from teachers and students is contagious and electric right now. It’s been a really fun start to the school year.

We had two very successful curriculum information nights. If you were unable to attend, your case manager can send you the slides from the evening and if you have further questions don’t hesitate to contact the teacher, Kade or myself. Thank you to those that participated.

We have multiple “new” things: new campus, new name, new leadership, maybe a new teacher for your student and now I’m introducing our new mascot and their story. Welcome Frankie to the Academy!

Frankie’s Story

Frankie is a majestic young owl who was born in the attic of an old school. Frankie has a lot of special abilities, including flight, super-sensitive vision and hearing, and being able to turn his head almost completely around. Of course, these powers mean he experiences the world a little differently than the other animals. However, despite being a little different, he’s certainly not alone. He has a bunch of brothers and sisters, and over 200 cousins. Frankie loves to use his unique senses to explore and learn, so someday he’ll grow up to be the wisest owl in the whole parliament.
