HEADlines: A note from our Head of School
Dear AOWL Community,

I hope this finds you and your family well. Like all educational institutions, 2020 continues to bring us new challenges as we continuously find ourselves in uncharted territories. When immersed in such difficulties, surrounding oneself with support from others in a similar situation is helpful. This is why I personally connected with the Head of School at Groves Academy to process all considerations that must go into making changes to our educational plan in light of COVID-19 developments. In our discussion, we agreed that there are some truths all schools must remember at this time:

  • A perfect solution does not exist.
  • Perception is reality. Honor it.
  • Feelings and symptoms cannot be judged.

Despite all of the uncertainties around us, our continued dedication to AOWL’s mission and values are steadfast. With each decision, we will continue to uphold our commitment to:

  • Providing an holistic, individualized education pathway for each student
  • Maintaining a safe, healthy culture for staff and students

We appreciate all of the family input we have received in these last few days. In many cases, your feedback has affirmed our decision. For those who are questioning our decision to move to temporary virtual learning, please know that we hear you and we honor that questioning with the acknowledgment that nothing about this is easy. In accordance with our mission, we will continue to monitor the situation closely and will return to offering in-person instruction as soon as possible. Please continue to reach out with any feedback, questions or concerns.

Spyro & Gili Fundraiser
Special Announcement! Our bearded dragon friends, Spyro & Gili, are in need of a brand new bioactive vivarium! We require funds to purchase equipment and materials for the new vivarium. If you are interested in helping us, you can donate money on our new fundraiser page or share this link!

The High School STEM Team has raised $840 toward our goal of $1,000!
Any donations are very much appreciated, and thank you all for your support!
We hope to beat our goal by $250, so we can provide additional food, supplies, etc. for our lizard friends. All funds raised over $1,250 will go to our school's annual fund during these especially challenging times. This will help us dye our Head of School's hair yellow and blue!
