Meet William: Earning His Way: William’s Road to Employment

William joined Parc Center for Disabilities in January 2022, bringing his energy and determination all the way from Chicago, Illinois. From the very beginning, William had a clear goal: to work and earn a paycheck. This was front and center during his initial support plan meeting.

We pride ourselves on a person-centered approach, and for William, that meant bringing together a wide range of team members to ensure William success. Representatives from our residential programs, adult day training programs, and supported employment programs all came to the table to develop a plan tailored just for him.

William dove right into our Employment Transition Program, where he participated in on-site, earning minimum wage. This gave him the foundational soft skills and valuable paid work history needed to make a seamless transition into community employment. At the same time, we blended elements of our Adult Day Training Transition Program with our Supported Employment Program to provide comprehensive support and guidance for William as he pursued his goals.

🎁Wright Flood Insurance Company donated over 210 gifts to our Family Focus families and provided Christmas dinners to four families. This marks the 12th year they have blessed Family Focus.

🎄We received 44 boxes containing 550 packages of brand-new clothing, with many packages including multiple items. These generous donations came from a national clothing manufacturer that distributed hundreds of boxes to local charities across Pinellas County. Thanks to a former board member, Mitchell Shenkman, who ensured we were included, the clothing was sorted and shared among our Children's programs and our employees.

🎅 Our preschool also received over 300 handmade wooden toys from the Toy Makers of East Lake. They personally delivered toys to all the children, creating a memorable experience that even made the news! Another highlight of the season was our children's holiday parade. Parents and families joined in to support the children, participated in arts and crafts, and enjoyed the main attraction—a visit from Santa!

🎁Our Holiday Gift Giving Program was a HUGE success! For over 20 years, Mel and Cheri Clifton have been dedicated "elves," picking up donated gifts and delivering them to us so our participants can wake up to presents from Santa. Thanks to their efforts and the generosity of our donors, everyone enjoyed a magical holiday season filled with joy and love.

💝Parc Center for Disabilities' residents, participants, and their families celebrated a magical Snowball Soirée Holiday Party, graciously hosted by Jeff Francis, a longtime friend. His overwhelming generosity and beautifully decorated Christmas wonderland made the evening truly unforgettable.
