The Broadcaster Online
Week of February 21, 2021
As wonderful as the Christian life is, there are times when it can become extremely overbearing. It is very difficult to stay positive and upbeat when we find ourselves constantly fighting against three of man’s most common struggles; Satan, sin and self. These common struggles give truth to the saying; “new days with old struggles.”
We wake up having to face our greatest fight every day.  As Paul notes in Romans 7: 19 - 21 “For the good that I want, I do not do, but I practice the very evil that I do not want. But if I am doing the very thing I do not want, I am no longer the one doing it, but the sin which dwells in me. I find the principle that evil is present in me, the one who wants to do good.”
The good news is, we never have to take on the fight by ourselves. This is what makes the Christian experience so wonderful. We have a Helper, who is there to help and assist us, enabling us to make it through our struggles and frustrations. When we are at our wit’s end and weak points, we have access to a power source like no other; the Holy Spirit! Jesus told his disciples in John 14:16 -17 “I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He will be with you forever; that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and in you.”
Every new day comes with its unique set of challenges. The scriptures encourage us “not to worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” (Matt. 6: 34) “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.” (Eph. 6: 18) As long as sin exists in our world, our daily struggles will continue to hold true to the statement; our new days are presented with old struggles.
“Fear not, God is with you! He is always there to strengthen you, help you and uphold you.” (Isaiah 41: 10) We may not win every battle, but we will win the war!  “For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.” (Col. 1: 13-14)

COVID-19: Although COVID numbers are going down in Massachusetts, please continue to exercise vigilance in observing recommended safety protocols, e.g., wash your hands frequently, wear a mask whenever you are around people who are not part of your immediate household, in both public and private settings, do not travel unless absolutely necessary, keep your distance, and self-quarantine for the recommended amount of time if you contract or are exposed to COVID-19. Although there is light at the end of the tunnel with the roll out of multiple vaccines, for now, the pandemic rages on, and it is not time to relax our vigilance in limiting its spread.
Reminder: Please remember that cloth face masks or coverings are required in all public places, including for outdoor activities. Please also remember to launder your cloth facemasks and/or coverings regularly, wash your hands frequently, and practice social distancing.
