Milwaukee Tools logo
We are excited to announce the launch of our NEW partnership with Milwaukee Tools. If you have any Hilti Tools to turn in or will be receiving new Milwaukee Tools, an email from Len will be coming to let you know they are ready. For any Huseman Group assigned tools that are in disrepair and in need of replacement, please bring them to the Armory to be sent to Milwaukee Tools. A replacement of the Huseman Group assigned tool will be provided to you at this time. For personal tools, new Milwaukee Tools may be purchased using Huseman Group vendor promotions. For Warranty repairs on personal tools, visit the  Milwaukee Tool Rental Program form for details. During the Warranty repair process for personal tools, there will be no replacement given by the Armory during this time.

Reminder that the Annual Tool Inspection will typically occur during the month of December. Tools will be inspected for wear and tear as well as an inventory check. Tools that are lost will be re-issued, and those in need of repair or updated will be replaced. A $250 Milwaukee Tool credit will be given to you for purchase of anything Milwaukee if all tools are present and not missing for the year, AND Out of Warranty/Replacement costs for the year is no more than 20% of total cost of tools issued.

LEADERSHIP UPDATES

SAFETY UPDATES
Housekeeping in the Construction Industry

General housekeeping of work areas is an important part of a robust safety program. Poor housekeeping promotes inefficiency as well as leads to injuries and property loss.

Poor housekeeping leads to slip, trip and fall injuries, property damage incidents involving moving equipment or vehicles, caught in/between injuries, or strains/sprains due to unnecessary lifting and handling of objects that are in the way.

Here are a few ways to improve the general housekeeping in your work area:

  1. Create lay down yards for equipment and tools when out in the field. At the end of the task, return tools and equipment to their proper locations such as a toolbox.
  2. Designate walking areas or paths for employees in work area and keep equipment and objects out of that path.
  3. Designate parking areas within specific work areas to avoid clutter and vehicles or equipment striking objects around them.
  4. Barricade or place orange fencing around objects or areas where equipment, vehicles, or people should not be. This helps control points of access into work areas.
  5. Keep tools and equipment clean. Heavy equipment should not have loose cargo such as trash in the cab. These items can be a distraction or interfere with the controls.

Paying attention to the small details translates to bigger changes in the safety culture in the field. Not only does good housekeeping help to lower property loss incidents as well as injuries, but it also shows the maturity of a safety culture within a company. Overlooking simple issues such as housekeeping can lead to big problems with injuries and property loss.
PROJECT UPDATES
HGC Construction
We are excited to announce that the Sugar Creek Bacon Barn, a high end event center, is close to being enclosed. Our crews have been working diligently to ensure we hit the estimated completion date of March 2023.

Next up - pop the chimney through the roof, add ornate trusses, and a glass wall feature.

SSRG
Long-term repair work on the Purple People Bridge Pier 1, at the Cincinnati approach, was recently completed. The repairs were necessary due to a stone that fell into the river in early May last year which forced the bridge to be fully - then partially - closed for several months. SSRG is excited to be a contractor on this project, which involved demolishing and removing stonework, forming a new concrete pad and plug, installing reinforced steel and epoxy anchors, placing concrete for repairs, and more.

Check out the local news story featuring Leo Dahring, Senior Project Manager for a closer look!

Trade31
Trade31 recently designed and installed new windows on the front elevation at Deer Park Junior/Senior High School. They partnered with Deer Park Community City Schools, VSWC Architects, AR Design and Graham Architectural Products to deliver a look that matched the original windows - as shown in the school's 1958 yearbook!

Staircase
Stanton Millworks
Stanton Millworks completed this staircase at Sycamore High School just in time for the start of school. They dressed up the school's new Media Lounge by fabricating and installing two new staircases, and custom wall caps with yellow and blue airplane landing strips to play off of the school's mascot, the Aviators!

Stewart Iron Works
Stewart recently made repairs to Sugar Grove Cemetery and received positive feedback from the staff there:

“We really appreciate the beautiful work Stewart Ironworks has done. Our cemetery is very special to us and having the damages repaired with the same level of craftsmanship as the original means a lot to the city, its residents, and those who visit the grounds.”
