We're trying on a new look and feel for our PTO newsletters - we hope you dig it!

In other news, we don't want to alarm you, but school starts in less than a month... 😬 Teacher assignments were posted in Aspen on Friday and the grade-level Facebook groups were lighting up with all the activity!

We've been hard at work over the summer reviewing your survey feedback from the end of last year and thinking about how we can make some of our amazing events even amazing-er (that's a word, right??)!

This newsletter is full of great info, important dates and volunteer opportunities (big and small). Enjoy the last few days of Summer and we'll see you in a few weeks!

GETTING TO KNOW...

Our Principal,

Mrs. Fawcett!

What are you most excited about going into this school year?

I am genuinely thrilled about every part of the day. From those early moments of welcoming students in the morning to witnessing to their achievements in the classroom. We are Better Together! The boundless energy and potential that our students bring to the school fills me with anticipation for the year that lies ahead.

What is your favorite memory from this summer?

I have so many wonderful memories from summer. Spending time with my family stands out as my favorite memory, especially seeing the world through my children’s eyes. They are 11 and 14. We had lots of time to see Boston with visiting family. Just before we return to school, I am taking my two boys to Universal Studios for the first time.

What would the students be surprised to find out about you?

I absolutely love building things. I have built three additions and I spent time learning everything I could about construction. It makes me so excited to build something from nothing. I relish the challenge of stepping beyond my comfort zone and tackling projects in areas I have limited background knowledge about.

How do you show your Sanborn school spirit?

To show my Sanborn school spirit, I attend school events and participate in themed spirit days. I'm committed to creating an atmosphere where every member of our community feels connected and valued. I am eager to share with anyone who will listen how amazing Sanborn School is and how proud I am to be a part of this wonderful community. I am dedicated to fostering a sense of unity and pride that embodies the spirit of Sanborn.

DID YOU KNOW?

Big Changes at Sanborn!

If you've driven by the school, you may have noticed some action inside and outside the school! Here's a quick rundown of what's been happening:

  • New security measures at the front office, front office space updates, LED lighting throughout the school, and new chairs and a new refrigerator added to the teacher's lounge (made possible by PTO funds).

  • New casings were added to all bulletin boards in the main hallway, to better display student work.

  • A new TV in the front lobby to share updates, etc.

  • Last year's 5th graders gifted the school a new podium for the cafeteria stage, and microphones have been added to the cafeteria.

  • The stone benches on the playground have been removed and will be replaced with four new benches.

  • New mulch will be added to the playground around the play structures and a new buddy table for the playground, which will be installed soon (made possible by PTO funds).
