A regional study, published by IIEP-UNESCO in Africa, is now out on the most important ways to improve educational quality in Africa, following six years of implementation of the Programme to Support Education Quality Management (PAPIQ). According to the study, management is not a one-off intervention. It is a process of continuous improvement, organised over time and regularly rather than an accumulation of activities.

The initiative, developed in partnership with the World Bank Group, comes as authorities seek to expand digital access and modernize public services across the country. Fiji’s Parliament has passed the Education Bill 2025, which replaces the Education Act of 1966. Government says the new Education Bill of 2025 is the biggest overhaul of the country’s education system in almost six decades. In a statement, the Fiji Government said the new law strengthens every Fijian’s right to education and introduces a modern legal framework covering all levels of learning, from Early Childhood Education to higher education and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
