Kenya's push to digitize technical education gained fresh momentum on Tuesday when Principle Secretary of the State Department for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Dr. Esther Muoria officially operationalized the Nyeri National Polytechnic Open, Distance and e-Learning Centre (ODeL), while awarding certificates to 20 trainers who completed accredited training on ODeL standards.

Education Minister confirms US$300m World Bank funding: For secondary education reform

The World Bank has committed US$300million to a new secondary education initiative in Ghana, Minister of Education Haruna Iddrisu has confirmed, stating that the funding, nearly double what was initially discussed, will prioritise the rehabilitation and upgrading of technical and vocational senior high schools across the country. The announcement was made during a joint visit to the Armed Forces Senior High Technical School in Burma Camp in Accra, as part of a working tour by Paschal Donohoe, the World Bank Group’s Managing Director and Chief Knowledge Officer.

Nigeria partners Singapore to strengthen technical, vocational education

Nigerian government, through the Federal Ministry of Education, has formalised a new partnership with the Institute of Technical Education, Education Services (ITEES), Singapore, via the signing of an official agreement aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) system. A statement by the Director of Press of the ministry, Boriowo Folashade, noted that the agreement was signed on Thursday during a ceremony connecting officials in Abuja and Singapore, with Nigeria represented by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and Singapore represented by ITE Education Services (ITEES).

Government plans expanded investment in education including free secondary schooling and national feeding program

Why universities still struggle to make degrees accessible for disabled students

What students describe day to day, however, tells a different story. A recent report on accessibility for disabled students in UK universities, produced by Disabled Students UK in partnership with charity The Snowdon Trust, shows that access continues to break down. This is not because support is never agreed, but because it is not consistently delivered.

TalentSync will analyse skills development needs across three industries and three countries: the aviation industry in Malta, the food innovation sector in Ireland and the tourism industry in the Netherlands.

COL convenes Pacific Focal Points Meeting to strengthen regional collaboration in the region
