Radrodro says climate change now a major education challenge

Fiji’s education system is being reshaped to better respond to climate change, with Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro stressing the urgent need for climate-smart and future-ready learning across the Pacific. Speaking at the Curriculum Greening and Skills Development Workshop at Nalagi Hotel, Radrodro says the timing of the meeting is critical as Pacific nations continue to deal with the growing impacts of climate change while also preparing students for an uncertain future.

Just before that, in 2022, the Government of Tuvalu created the first ‘digital nation’ in the metaverse to preserve its statehood and culture if its physical territory disappears. In these small, isolated island communities, many with only a few thousand residents, there are scarce resources available to combat the existential threat that rising sea levels pose. Left alone, there is very little they can do.

A&B crafts history as smallest nation to host CHOGM to date

Antigua and Barbuda is making history as the smallest island nation to host the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) when the historic event takes place from 1st to 4th November, this year, with King Charles expected to be in attendance. The meeting is being held under the theme “Accelerating Partnerships and Investment for a Prosperous Commonwealth”. Following Jamaica’s hosting in 1975, the twin-island nation follows the Bahamas in (1985), and Trinidad and Tobago (2009) as the fourth Caribbean setting since the summit’s inception in 1971.

BOTEPCO and Commonwealth of Learning (COL) strengthen steam education through IVLS courses

Higher education minister calls for digital skills partnership

Higher education and training minister Buti Manamela has urged business, labour, civil society and government to work together to transform the country’s digital skills base. This, in line with efforts to create employment, drive economic transformation and build a capable state that meets the demands of a changing workforce. Malawi: Over 85% of schools remain without Internet access in 2026

Malawi aims to position itself as a competitive player in Africa’s digital economy. However, the data highlights a stark gap. The School Connectivity Landscape Analysis Report, presented on Friday, April 17 by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, covers 8,939 schools serving more than 6 million students. The report shows that 85.8% of these institutions have no internet access.

Pakistan launches nationwide AI upskilling program for youth

Pakistan’s government has launched a nationwide upskilling program “AI Seekho 2026” through which it plans to train the country’s young population in artificial intelligence and provide them with economic opportunities, state-run media reported on Monday. Pakistan’s information ministry has launched the AI Seekho program in partnership with Google for Developers, Telenor Pakistan and leading IT company Innovista, state broadcaster Radio Pakistan said.

UN calls for inputs to global dialogue on AI governance
