Generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) is being absorbed into education as a new infrastructural layer, promising individualised tutoring, instant feedback, translation, and accessibility support at marginal cost. Sustainable Development Goal 4 calls for inclusive and equitable quality education for all, yet the evidence on whether GenAI advances or undermines that goal points firmly in both directions at once. At the task level, GenAI and intelligent tutoring systems repeatedly compress performance distributions, with the largest gains accruing to lower-skilled and lower-baseline participants.

Dominica’s CSEC mathematics performance jumps by 10 percentage points

Dominica has recorded a notable rise in its CSEC Mathematics performance, with Chief Education Officer, Dr Jeffrey Blaize, describing the improvement as an important milestone for the country’s education system. Speaking at the CSEC Results Ceremony at the Dominica Public Service Union Building in Roseau on 31 August 2026, Dr Blaize said the Island’s mathematics results increased by 10 percentage points over the previous year and now stand seven percentage points above the regional average.

Cabinet approves 10-year TVET roadmap to tackle skills mismatch
