Bridgeport Families,

We hope you’re having a great spring semester so far! It is hard to believe that we are nearing the end of the school year and gearing up for the final weeks and fun events to wrap up the year.

It was exciting to experience a special moment in history with our students this week. We enjoyed witnessing the total solar eclipse with our students! Students, with parent/guardian permission, were given the opportunity to view the eclipse at the time of totality.

On Tuesday, students began taking the state required STAAR tests, which will continue throughout the month of April. Any questions about testing or the schedule can be shared with your principal. As a reminder, below is the schedule:

  • April 9: English I
  • April 11: English II, 6th, 7th, & 8th Reading Language Arts
  • April 16: US History, 3rd, 4th, 5th Reading Language Arts

Thank you for an incredible year so far. Let’s finish strong!

Bond Proposal Continues to Focus on Safety

The May 4 bond proposal includes $1.8 million for safety and security projects districtwide. Projects identified by a facility study and prioritized by the Long-Range Facility Planning Committee focus on campus-related safety and include upgrades to the public address system, district-wide radios, security cameras, door/window hardening, vehicle access control, technology infrastructure, speed bumps and standoff features to protect school campuses. The BISD Administration continues to research and identify grant opportunities for safety-related projects and underfunded safety requirements under state law. All of the safety-related projects in the bond proposal are designed to increase communication and response time for first responders, while decreasing or slowing down potential intruders. Early voting begins April 22. To learn more, visit the 2024 Bond webpage.
