THE BULLETIN
We deliver social, emotional, mental and health services to students, parents & educators to promote wellness in the academic and professional setting.
Hello & Happy July!

Anyone else feel like they blinked and the summer is gone? I can't believe it's already Back To School season! Hopefully all the school professionals have taken some much deserved time for rest and recovery after what's been a very, very long 18 months.

I recently read an NPR article that quoted Boston University professor, Jennifer Greif Green, stating that, "The mental health and well-being of teachers can have a really important impact on the mental health and well-being of the children who they're spending most of their days with...having teachers feel safe and supported in their school environments is essential to students learning and being successful."

That being said, we have decided to take this fall to hone in on two really important PD topics that we feel will best encapsulate the support educators need as we move into the new school year: Growing A Resilient Mind & Reconnecting As A Team.

Our goal is to provide practical mental wellness skills to your team so that they can not only show up for themselves confidently, but also lead their students and families to be more emotionally resilient as well.

Enjoy the rest of your summer!

Growing A Resilient Mind: Keynote PD Topic

If there's one thing that came out of 2020, it's the knowledge that we are resilient beings. But resilience is a skill that takes time to learn and implement.

Simply Bee CEO & Therapist, Audrey Grunst, LCSW, has shared this keynote presentation with over a thousand educators in the past year with a mission to provide them the necessary skills that support emotional growth, even during challenging or uncertain times.

During this keynote presentation, she shares her five-step Growth & Resiliency Model© which teaches the foundational tools for building emotional wellness.

The five steps to growth are:
  1. Become Aware
  2. Observe Objectively
  3. Respond Responsibly
  4. Integrate Effectively
  5. Grow Resilience

This PD presentation is critical for educators as they learn to navigate their wellness, both in and out of the classroom.
Reconnecting As A Team PD Workshop

This workshop is ideal for schools who are moving into full in-person instruction with a blended cohort of educators who taught from home and in the classroom during the 2020-21 school year. We understand the challenging dynamics encompassed in last year's varying teaching scenarios. Each model chosen carried pros and cons and there was no one-size-fits-all option.

As we look towards the start of the 2021 school year there is certainly still trepidation around returning to full in person attendance. We are offering this experiential workshop with a mission to create a cohesive team dynamic that is heavily influenced by the 5 Dysfunctions of a Team training program, as well as incorporates our five-step Growth & Resiliency Model©.

In this workshop Simply Bee's CEO and therapist Audrey Grunst, LCSW, trains educators to lead by example and designed this for teams to:
  1. Build trust
  2. Manage conflict
  3. Increase commitment
  4. Create accountability
  5. Find common goals

Her yearlong experience leading this program with the Northwestern Women's Volleyball Team in 2018 is the foundation of this workshop.
Fall 2021 Parent Workshops
Parent's Role In Building Confident & Happy Athletes -
2 Free Spots Left!

We are looking to partner with high schools and/or sports organizations for this 60 minute (in person) parent workshop. Our goal is to guide parents on how to best support their child effectively in sports so they can gain increased resiliency skills and confidence - both on and off the field.

Participating in a sport can influence a child in so many positive ways, from learning how to be a part of a team, to the importance of discipline & hard work, to even the more general mental health benefits of moving your body daily. However, like every coin, there are two sides. Sports can also be a place for unhealthy competition, internalized disappointment, and anxiety.

It can also sometimes result in a difficult or strained relationship with parents at times. Eric Stevenson, LPC is a counselor and mental performance coach at Simply Bee who provides support to both athletes and parents regularly. He uses sports psychology skills and methods to help avoid the more stressful inter-family dynamics and grow more positive family interactions.
Growing A Resilient Mind: Parent Edition

Utilizing her five-step Growth & Resiliency Model© in this presentation Simply Bee CEO & Therapist, Audrey Grunst, LCSW provides parents with support in their emotional growth and wellbeing.

By providing this workshop to both parents and educators, we can start to build a shared culture that spans across the school and throughout the home. Seeing trusted adults model mental wellness skills and having a shared language across these critical areas of a child's life will help them begin to adapt and integrate those skills effectively when making decisions.

For example, one parent's key takeaway was, "The idea that awareness is key and the first step toward making decisions, and that my awareness of something may not be the same as my child's." Many parents shared feedback after attending this presentation on how integral awareness was in allowing them to move forward in response to a situation, rather than with a reaction to an event. This subtle shift can provide all the difference in the dynamics between a family.
