How To Gain Control During Uncertain Times: PD Presentation for Educators
March 2, 2022

Mental health is a growing need in professional settings. Educators are reporting higher levels of burnout, anxiety, depression, worry, fear, panic and isolation. Fortunately, there are more and more open conversations between educators, administrators and licensed professionals to help one another learn tools and coping mechanisms to better deal with life as a whole person–not just a teacher.

The goal of this PD workshop is to focus on mental and emotional skills to respond to burnout, uncertainty, and crisis. We will provide practical, efficient and generalizable skills from mental health experts who know first-hand what it means to be in a high stakes position.

Spring Break Self-Care Challenge
Okay, we know that the word "self-care" can result in an automatic eye roll for some educators. At this point in the school year you may feel like you're barely surviving, let alone thriving with extra time to care for your own needs.

But self-care doesn't have to be all bubble baths and massages. We like to use this word as a global term that encompasses each area of your overall well-being. We all wear many hats and hold many roles in our day-to-day lives - so our Spring Break Challenge is for you to incorporate one type of self-care into your daily routine from each of these areas: Emotional, Physical, Spiritual, Social, Practical & Mental every day!

Here are a few tips for success:
  1. Get in the right mindset: be open-minded and adventurous to try self-care activities.
  2. Find what works: as you incorporate different practices and activities into your routine, reflect and jot down those that bring you joy, peace, decreased anxiety and an overall sense of calm.
  3. Schedule it: add non-negotiable time in your calendar for a minimum of 5 minutes per day.
  4. Switch it up: avoid getting stuck in a self-care rut by doing a physical activity one day, a social activity the next and then do an emotional or spiritual check-in the day after. Keep your practice fresh!
  5. Invite a friend to join you: sometimes self-care is actually about increasing your sense of connection and community with others

Enjoy a restful spring break - you deserve it!
