Bridgeport families,

Thank you very much for the opportunity to serve you and your family during the first few months of the school year. We continue to see such hard work and dedication from our students in the classroom and in extracurricular activities, and they are making us so proud!

Early voting in the upcoming school bond election starts this coming Monday, Oct. 23, and runs through Friday, Nov. 3. This is a great opportunity to skip the election day lines and make your voice heard in just a few minutes! During early voting, you can vote at any Wise County voting location, but the only in-district location is at the Bridgeport Community Center located at 1102 Lawdwin, Bridgeport, TX. You can vote from 8 a.m-5 p.m. Oct. 23-Nov. 1, and Nov. 2-3 there are a few extra hours to vote, from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. We hope to have a large voter turnout from all of our families in this election!

Before you head to the polls next week, make sure you are informed about what will be on the ballot. Feedback after the May 2023 election revealed voters want the opportunity to consider separate propositions. As a result, there are three propositions on the November school bond ballot that each address different project areas. Additionally, we reduced the overall price of the bond and reduced the financial impact it would have on local taxpayers. The proposed projects address safety and security districtwide, improvements to aging facilities and systems and renovations to our oldest campus, Bridgeport Middle School. A new, second K-5 elementary school to replace the aging Bridgeport Intermediate School campus is also proposed.

We hope you will take the time to make it to the polls and make your voice heard in this election.

Sincerely,

Amy Ellis, Ed.D.

Your game ticket will serve as your entry into the tailgate.

Additional festivities include fireworks after the football game, and an exciting auction of the commemorative game ball and commemorative 150th challenge coin. The live auction will take place at the end of the game, right before the fireworks show. Standard Safety Protocols

Like many districts across Texas and the United States, Bridgeport ISD utilizes the “I Love You Guys” Foundation Standard Response Protocols (SRP) for emergency response.

The "I Love You Guys" Foundation Standard Response Protocol offers a proven and effective approach to emergency preparedness and response, empowering both students and staff to be proactive in ensuring their safety.

Safety Drills & Training

Understanding the different Standard Response Protocol actions is important for BISD students, staff and parents so that we are all using the same language and know individual roles in these situations. Drills for each of these actions are frequently held on campus to help train students and staff.

Hold:

Students and staff are instructed to clear the hallways and remain in classrooms with minimal classroom distraction or interruption until the "All Clear" is announced. An example of when a school might announce a Hold would be if first responders are in the school hallway handling an individual student or staff medical emergency.

Secure:

The building is put in a secure or locked mode based on outside activity in the surrounding area, not because of a threat in the school or on school grounds. School staff will move all students and activities inside and ensure the entrances and exits to the building are locked while learning continues inside the school with minimal classroom interruption or distractions. An example of facilitating Secure procedures at a campus would be if there is a domestic dispute or police activity in a neighboring subdivision.

Lockdown:

The building is put on lockdown due to an imminent perceived danger inside or very near the building. All students and staff are trained to get behind a locked door and turn out the lights - Locks, Lights, Out of Sight. An example of a Lockdown would be if there is an intruder inside the building.

Evacuate:

Our students and staff are moved to a new or safe location due to a situation in or near the school building. An example of an Evacuate order would be if there is fire or smoke in the building.

Shelter:

Our students and staff are instructed to take safe shelter due to a situation in or near the school. Examples could include weather events or a hazardous materials spill on a nearby highway.
