Communion Servers needed for Homecoming Worship/Luther Serves - College Ministries is seeking faculty and staff to assist the Luther Congregation as ushers and communion servers for Homecoming Festival Eucharist on Sunday, Oct. 6, 10:00 a.m. in the CFL. E-mail  [email protected]  if you can serve this coming Sunday morning.

Staff and faculty are invited to join the Luther Congregation for Luther Serves , a morning of community service to assist area residents with yard work and household chores. Volunteer teams will work the morning of Oct. 12th from 9:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. All work is done on a volunteer basis with donations divided between local and global ministries. Now on campus, Nap Chapel - Led by Vicar Amalia Vagts, Nap Chapel will occur on Tuesdays from 12:30 - 1:00 p.m. in the CFL Recital Hall. Consider this your "Half Hour of Power Nap" - a guided 10-minute renewing nap in a sacred space. You are welcome here. Homecoming 2019 - Join in the Luther Homecoming festivities Thursday through Sunday, Oct. 3-6. From thought-provoking lectures and concerts to the Luther Tailgate before the big game to the Harvest Festival and an Outdoor High Ropes Challenge Course, there is something planned for everyone. Local Candidate Forum - The Luther College and Decorah communities will have the opportunity to talk with and question the people running to represent them in local government. Luther's annual local candidate forum takes place at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, in Valders Hall of Science Room 206 on the Luther College campus. Candidates for Decorah City Council, Decorah School Board and Decorah Parks and Recreation Board have been invited to attend and answer questions submitted by the audience.

Zotero Workshop - Wondering how to keep track of sources, create bibliographies and footnotes? Zotero (a free application) helps you collect, manage, and cite your sources with a click of a button. Bring your laptop to our workshop and learn how to download Zotero and set it up to manage your resources (available for PCs and MACs). Tuesday, Oct. 1st, 8:00-9:00 p.m., in Preus Library, Hovde Room.  

Join Luther's Student Activities Council - If planning events on campus and movie nights with friends are your thing, come to Luther's Student Activities Council meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 1st in the SAC Office at 7 PM! SAC Cinema shows movies monthly in Valders 206 and is looking for more committee members to vote on which (horror) movie to put on later in October.  Any horror movie suggestion, new or classic is welcome! Rochester Shuttle Survey - Senate is working a shuttle idea to transport students to and from Rochester and we would like to know which times would be best to have the shuttle runs if there were to be one. The intentions of the shuttle is to run regular to allow it to fit into even more people to have access to it. Please complete this survey to give us a general sense of when (times and dates) it would be best to have the shuttle run.

CRTF Student Forum - The curriculum revision task force (CRTF) invites you to attend a student forum about the proposed general education curriculum (requirements for all students) changes. The forum will take place on Tuesday, October 1st at 5:30 p.m. in Olin 102. We value your input and feedback as a part of this process.

Registration is open for the 2019-2020 season of Lifelong Learner Seminars - Our seminars offer people the opportunity to enjoy the academic program at the college and engage in meaningful scholarly dialogue. Each seminar lasts one month (four Wednesday sessions from 9 a.m. to Noon) during October, November, February and March. Cost for each seminar is $30. Class size is limited. Book Signing  - Thursday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. in Olin 102, Professor of Religion, Robert Shedinger will be delivering a lecture on his new book,  The Mystery of Evolutionary Mechanisms: Darwinian Biology's Grand Narrative of Triumph and the Subversion of Religion.  A book signing will follow the lecture.   Books will be sold before and after the event and are currently available in the Book Shop.
