Northside Institutions Neighborhood Alliance, Inc. (NINA)

Since 2004, Northside Institutions Neighborhood Alliance, Inc. (NINA) has been working to revitalize Hartford’s Asylum Hill neighborhood, restoring blighted historic houses and creating affordable homeownership opportunities for low- to moderate-income families. The nonprofit organization represents a collaboration of some of the largest institutions in the city, including Aetna, The Hartford, Trinity Health of New England, and Webster Bank.

Karen T. Taylor, Director of Equity & Opportunity for the City of Hartford enjoyed the experience of working with NINA when she was house hunting. She chose the Asylum Hill neighborhood because of its "proximity, people, parks, and price," she says. “I’ve lived in Hartford for most of my life, and I’ve grown to appreciate the cultural diversity.”

The Small Business Administration (SBA) Launches Portal to Accept Shuttered Venue Operators Grant (SVOG) Applications April 8 

The SBA will host an informational webinar to review the grant application process on March 30. “The SBA knows these venues are critical to America's economy and understands how hard they've been impacted, as they were among the first to shutter. This vital economic aid will provide a much-needed lifeline for live venues, museums, movie theatres and many more," said SBA Administrator Isabella Casillas Guzman.

A group of developers, including Alan Lazowski, Martin Kenny, and Carlos Mouta, along with companies Shelbourne, Spectra, Spinnaker Real Estate Partners, and RMS Cos. are investing heavily in Hartford real estate.

To celebrate the Hawks' first time at the NCAA dance and to show Hartford pride for our hometown March Madness, buildings around Hartford including Travelers, G. Fox, and Pratt Street helped "Light Hartford Red". Julio and UHart alum Shannon wore their pride and flew the flag!
