First Hartford Courant Building

A small plaque in front of Center Church marks the approximate location of the first Hartford Courant (Connecticut Courant). The daily Hartford Courant traces its existence back to the weekly (1764), thereby claiming the title "America's oldest continuously published newspaper" and adopting as its slogan, "Older than the nation."
