On April 8, Republic Services celebrated opening the “Next Gen” Recycling Facility and Learning Center in Plano. The long-awaited reopening comes after the recycling facility burned in December 2016.
The 77,000 square foot, state-of-the-art facility serves more than 510,000 residents and businesses across the DFW Metroplex, including Plano and neighboring cities. Republic Services Vice President of Recycling and Sustainability Pete Keller said, “We are pleased to partner with the City of Plano to assist in education that ensures only
recyclables enter their recycling containers.”
Materials sort in milliseconds with optical sorters, next-generation anti-wrap fiber screens and other innovative technologies to process tons of recyclable materials daily. The Plano facility features a 5,000-square-foot interactive Learning Center to educate consumers through first-hand views of the recycling process from an observation deck.
