Happy early Thanksgiving to you and your families. We are thankful for what you do for Barnhill Contracting Company each and every day.

You may notice The Buzz going to your cell phone now. This is just another way to make sure our communications are reaching you!

On November 10th, we sent out a memo with our annual E4E program update. In the midst of a thankful season, we are proud of the over $200,000 distributed to assist 119 employees in times of need, and the 48% of employees who donated to make that all possible. Together, we are stronger, and this continues to be demonstrated through the E4E program.
Our Winter Pay Plan EXPANDS to our Weather Pay Plan - a better benefit for you! Born from your 2021 employee engagement survey feedback coupled with the 2022 work groups, we are expanding our Winter Pay Plan to be our Weather Pay Plan for 2023. Rather than the standard eight weeks during the winter months, employees will have essentially a whole year to use 240, 200, or 56 hours when weather prevents working outside.
On Veteran's Day, November 11, we honored some of our very own Heroes in Hardhats here at Barnhill. This feature included one veteran from each of our divisions. We want to thank all of our veterans again for your service and sacrifices.

"Do not save what is left after spending but spend what is left after savings." - Warren Buffet. When Warren Buffet talks about money, people listen - and they should! Our financial wellness tool shares tips on how to do just that!
1. Start each month by saving first. Consider your savings like a monthly “bill” and pay it like you would rent.
2. Experts recommend starting with saving 10% of your income and work your way up to 20% (or more if you can).
3. Set up an automatic transfer from your paycheck or checking account into your savings account. Once you make the responsible choice once, then it happens automatically!

Urgent Community Need for Children at Atrium Health
Due to a drastic spike in respiratory infections, Levine Children's Hospital and Jeff Gordon Children's Center have experienced a record number of patients. Because of this, there is a need for donated items for their patients and families. These items will help tremendously during this time. Last year, Building Group employees in our western region truly stepped up for this non-profit including project teams with NCSSM, Selma Burke MS, LCCH and Med Arts/Academy, MOHAWK, and the former Hickory Office staff. Let's help these families out again. If you are able, please help collect some of the below items and email athomas@barnhillcontracting.com for information on where to ship them to.
Items to donate: Coloring books/crayons, hot wheel cars, small Play-Doh containers, rattles/infant toys, sensory toys - pop its, sensory tubes, etc., travel sized shampoo/conditioners.
