“The McT faculty and staff are very much a family,” he noted.
Starting his career in 1989, he worked alongside former teachers and, later, with students who became colleagues.
Under his leadership as Athletic Director, McGill-Toolen Catholic saw unprecedented success, including 14 state championships since 2010, seven of which were firsts in school history. Additionally, 227 student-athletes earned collegiate scholarships, and several advanced to professional sports.
Some of his fondest memories stem from coaching football and softball, where his impact extended beyond the field. “You don’t realize it when you’re young, but a coach can have a tremendous impact on their lives, and they can greatly impact a coach’s life as well,” he shared.
As he steps into retirement with his wife, Alice, Griffin looks forward to new adventures while cherishing his years at McT. “It has been my privilege to serve this school. I will miss it, but I’m excited for what lies ahead.”
