Calling All Sophomores!

Each school year, one representative from MCC’s sophomore class is chosen to attend the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Conference (HOBY) at the regional level with an opportunity to later advance to HOBY at the national level.

The HOBY program recognizes 10th grade as an important decision-making time in developing leadership potential in high school students and encourages 10th grade students with demonstrated or potential leadership skills to apply for this opportunity. The deadline is November 30.

The HOBY Nomination Survey is available in Naviance under surveys.

If you have any questions regarding this opportunity, please see Ms. Belfatto or check out the link below.

Planning for the Future

Career exploration begins sophomore year! MCC's school counselors introduced students to a series of career assessments in Naviance that will help them discover potential career paths based on their areas of interest.

Faith in Action

MCC students showed compassion and community spirit yesterday when they served lunch at Daily Bread. They also delivered donations collected from our generous MCC family. Together we make a positive change!

Inside AP World History

AP World History students participated in an enlightening Harkness discussion about land-based empires. In the discussion, they reviewed how various empires expanded their power and legitimized their authority over the people they ruled.

"The Cask of Amontillado"

Ms. Johnston's English I students created a coat of arms to coincide with their study of "The Cask of Amontillado," a short story by Edgar Allan Poe. Each student had to select symbols, animals, and sayings representing themselves and their family.

Let's Talk Science

Biology students discover diffusion as iodine penetrates the bag turning the starch solution dark purple.

Hero's Journey

Honors English IV classes read and analyzed Beowulf as an epic hero from the Anglo-Saxon period. Students then personalized their version of who they consider a hero and their characteristics.

Athlete of the Week

Brian Oesterle won the Florida Today Athlete of the Week! Brian rushed 23 times for 216 yards and caught four passes for 55 yards and a score Friday against Holy Trinity. Thank YOU to all of our Hustler family members who voted!

Swim Districts

MCC Swim team had a great showing at districts on Tuesday!

Our girls 200yd medley relay and 200yd freestyle teams placed in the top 8 - Arabella Colon, Rachel Darwood, Mimi Estrada, Cyra Morano and Elizabeth Thompson.
