Speaker: Jim Ohara -  a retired professor at Loyola University Maryland, specializes in the history of the Supreme Court. He is a member of the Supreme Court Historical Society. His presentation will be about Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis as a lawyer, a judge, an ardent Zionist and a proponent of free speech.

The Rabbi Mark G. Loeb Center for Lifelong Learning's Adult B'nai Mitzvah Class Receives A Gift!
We are thrilled to tell you that The Adult B'nai Mitzvah Class has received a generous gift that will enable interested congregants to have a Bar or Bat Mitzvah experience. The program has undergone some changes from the original advertised class to accommodate this gift and provide a solid foundation for each adult. We will offer this B'nai Mitzvah journey, facilitated by Ben Kreshtool, from Thursday, December 7 through Thursday, May 17 at 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. in the Agus Library for a fee of $50. Please note that the original start date of October 26th has been changed to December 7th.  All participants will have a Bar or Bat Mitzvah on Sunday morning, Shavuot, May 20, at 10:00 a.m. in the Berman-Rubin Sanctuary.

Prayground Shabbat
Friday, November 3 at 5:45 p.m. on the Preschool Playground (Commons Room for rain)
Stay after school for snacks outside by the playground Prayground Shabbat will be a movement based Kabbalat Shabbat for our youngest learners. Student Cantor Melanie Blatt will facilitate the experience. Oneg will be in the preschool lobby after the service.  For kids up to 5 years old and their families. 

Shabbat Unplugged Family Service
Friday, November 3 at 6:00 p.m. in the Kolker Room
Relax and experience the joy of Shabbat at a musical Kabbalat Shabbat service led by Student Cantor Melanie Blatt, Rabbi Dana Saroken and Josh Bender. Families with children in 3rd grade and above (and siblings!) are invited to join us for this fun and spirited service. Come early for snacks at 5:30 p.m on the preschool playground. 

Shabbat Morning Family Service
Saturday, November 4 at 11:15 a.m. in the Gorn Chapel
Families with children of all ages are invited to join us for songs, stories and a wonderful family Shabbat experience led by Student Cantor Melanie Blatt. Religious school's Kitah Vav will lead this month's service, Welcome to Abraham's Tent! November birthdays will be honored.

The Soul Center

These 30-minute transformational gatherings will allow you to step out of the busyness of your life and experience the benefits of being present in the moment and free of self-judgment. Generously sponsored by Robert and Florence Chertkof.

Sundays, November 5, 12, 19 at 9:30 a.m.
This yoga class will include 10 minutes of inspirational Torah at the beginning, and then a full hour-long yoga class.  Please bring a mat and a water bottle.

With so many people in our community in need of healing, Rabbi Saroken will be leading a prayer circle/healing service. Anyone in need of healing or praying for your loved ones is welcome. 

Wednesdays, November 8, 15, 29 and December 6 at 1:30 p.m.
Learn about these beautiful and exotic poems with Rabbi Dana Saroken. Then create an original, whimsical, and colorful piece of art based on the images of King Solomon's Song of Songs with teacher Judy Schlossberg using mixed media of paint, pen and collage.

The Braid
Friday, November 10, Session #1: 3:00 p.m.; Session #2: 4:00 p.m.
The perfect "do together" activity for moms and their teens, best friends, and more. Flavored with a pinch of Shabbat learning, unwind from the past week and reconnect as you braid freshly prepared challah dough into two take-home loaves ready to freeze or rise, bake and serve. $20/household (includes two challot). Must be 13 or over, space is limited.
