Even famous composers had a few bad days…

Composers have frequently been misunderstood by their contemporaries. In “REJECTED!” players from the NBCO will explore works by composers that were spurned by their audiences or their critics.

Art Together – the Zimmerli's FREE drop-in family art making workshop series – returns on October 9 for a new season! Each month, join us for a new project inspired by works on view in the galleries, while spending quality time together. Free and open to the public. Registration is not required.
On October 13, join us for a conversation between artist Sheila Pepe and Zimmerli director Maura Reilly, as they discuss the artist’s work in American Stories: Gifts from the Jersey City Museum Collection. This exhibition includes a re-creation of Sheila Pepe’s Tunnel (2005), an installation of shoelaces and nautical rope that references the mostly immigrant laborers who dug the tunnels between New Jersey and New York, as well as those who commuted through them to work in the city’s factories.
Collective Yearning: Black Women Artists from the Zimmerli Art Museum at Mabel Smith Douglass Library – featuring prints, photographs, and multimedia artworks – is the first time the university has conducted a comprehensive and methodical review of its holdings of art by Black women artists, from canonical figures to emerging artists. A satellite installation is at the Zimmerli. Visit Center for Women in the Arts and Humanities for all details, including a series of programs: Artists’ Discussion ( October 26) and Student Curator Roundtable ( November 9).
Programs are free and open to the public. Please visit individual event pages for parking information and safety protocols, which are observed in accordance with Universitywide Protocols.
HOURS: Wednesday & Friday, 11am-6pm; Thursday, 11am-8pm; Saturday & Sunday, noon-5pm. (Closed Monday & Tuesday.) Museum admission is FREE for all visitors. We also post a variety of content on our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages. We can’t wait to see you!

PLAYWRIGHT
DIRECTOR
CAST

|
This stunning play about a Nigerian family in America centers around reconciliation, reinvention, and at its heart, the relationship between mothers and their daughters. Making her directorial debut on this production is George Street Playhouse’s Artistic Associate Laiona Michelle, who wowed audiences in Little Girl Blue both at George Street Playhouse and off-Broadway. The fourth installment in Ms. Udofia’s epic nine-play Ufot family cycle about the Nigerian American identity and the universality of a family’s unconditional love is not one to be missed!
