Remembering
Middlesex County Commissioner Deputy Director
Kenneth Armwood
We all bear a heavy heart as we mourn the loss of Middlesex County Commissioner Deputy Director Kenneth Armwood. He was a tireless advocate for the arts, education and civic engagement in our region. He also embodied graciousness and humility and made such a positive and powerful impression on people - whether it was a first meeting or a longtime acquaintance. He embraced ALL communities as his own and was especially steadfast in his efforts to appreciate, empower and elevate our youth throughout all their endeavors – cascading his praise in their successes as well as his necessary guidance and direction during their times of adversity.
We were honored by and enjoyed his presence at many, many events - as Deputy Director Armwood NEVER said no (to anyone), and we would often ask him about a future event (while at the event) and he would consistently say “As I told you before, whatever you need.” He was our Grand Marshall for our Hub City Sounds: CariFest, and often popped in LIVE or pre-recorded at our events that were created during the pandemic. He often said that he was not an artist but was the first one to pick up a paint brush during our Chalk Art mural initiatives. And he was one of our Welcome Speakers for our Windows of Understanding Public Art Exhibit social justice initiative.
As we all remember Deputy Director Armwood in our own special ways, through news articles and social media posts, there is an underpinning message that unifies us all: this gentle giant left us way too soon, but made such an enormous impact on residential, arts, cultural, historical and government communities throughout Middlesex County and across the State of New Jersey. Deputy Director Armwood is proof that one person CAN make such a difference.
In many speeches he often said, “You can never say thank you enough, so thank YOU for the good work that you ALL do”.

So, Deputy Director Armwood, we thank YOU for all that you have shared with us, taught us and shown us with your life how we should authentically serve our community. You leave us all with such remarkable memories and you will never be forgotten.

Rest in Power & Love,
Your friends at New Brunswick Cultural Center, Inc..
