How can art be an instrument of change? Find out at Stitched Together: A Quilting and Social Justice Workshop with Maureen Kelleher, co-founder of the Social Justice Collaboration Quilts Project, whose goals are to support artists who work behind prison walls and give voice to the political consciousness of imprisoned and free quilters. After a guided conversation about SJCQP’s work in the exhibition Stitching Time: The Social Justice Collaboration Quilts Project, participants work on an individual patch to contribute to a collaborative quilt. All materials are provided. No sewing or arts experience is necessary. Free and open to the public. The same workshop is offered on two dates (April 23 or May 1), but space is limited: please register for only one date.
On April 24, the New Brunswick Chamber Orchestra presents RESISTANCE, an exploration of composers and music that fought against occupiers and invaders. The program includes works by familiar names, as well as lesser-known composers. Admission is free, but space is very limited and reservations are required to attend the concert. Reserve your spot on the orchestra website.

HOURS: Wednesday & Friday, 11am-6pm; Thursday, 11am-8pm; Saturday & Sunday, noon-5pm. (Closed Monday & Tuesday.) Museum admission is FREE for all visitors. At this time, advance reservations are not required for general admission, but some programs require registration. The George Street Playhouse is excited to present the east coast premiere of A Walk on the Moon, a musical based on the film of the same name. Welcome to the iconic summer of 1969 when man walked on the moon, women fought for equal rights, the War in Vietnam raged on, and Woodstock showed America what the new generation stood for. At a Jewish bungalow colony in the Catskills, a young wife and mother, Pearl Kantrowitz, has an affair with the handsome Blouseman. While the affair jeopardizes her marriage and creates pain and turmoil, Pearl is forced to undertake a journey of self-discovery.

Paddington is making his favorite marmalade jam with the help of the Brown’s housekeeper Mrs. Bird, but they run out of sugar, so Paddington heads next door to borrow some from Mr. Curry. The usually grumpy Mr. Curry is even more short tempered than ever as he prepares for a visit from his great aunt who is a stickler for tidiness. Feeling sorry for Mr. Curry, Paddington volunteers to help him with his chores. Unfortunately for Paddington his good intentions end up leading to chaos! Will Paddington be able to fix everything before Mr. Curry and his great aunt arrive home?

In addition, visual art by local artists will be on display at the events.
