FIVE JOURNALISM TIDBITS FROM NORTHEAST OHIO

-Plain Dealer alum and Northeast Ohio political reporting celeb Henry Gomez moves on from BuzzFeed, joining NBC News as a national political correspondent. He will continue to be based in Cleveland. 
 
-WEWS Meteorologist Bryan Shaw and Anchor Frank Wiley Jr. both depart the local ABC affiliate. Wiley has taken a position at a station in Tampa, Fla. 
 
-Cleveland.com makes good on its promise to diversify reporting staff. Since August, the news site has hired three young reporters of color: Cameron Fields (General Assignment); Alexis Oatman (General Assignment); and Olivia Mitchell (Crime). Check out their bylines.   
 
-The nonprofit Northeast Ohio Solutions Journalism Collaborative (NEOSOJO) has been focusing almost exclusively on pandemic-related coverage since its inception. Now, with a new round of grant funding on the horizon, it’s asking the community to help determine what to dive into next. Take the survey
 
-In light of a brutally cold February, a frozen Lake Erie, and the US Coast Guard rescue crews deployed to collect two stranded groups on the ice last weekend, here’s a famous 1978 piece from Cleveland Magazine: “I Walked Across Lake Erie: Alone.”
