MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
Denise Polverine - The Press Club of Cleveland President

We have been talking a lot lately at WKYC /3News about what we learned about ourselves, the station and our operations while most of us have been working from home this past year. What efficiencies, tools and technologies allowed us to not only run a television station largely remotely during the pandemic, but also led to doing some things better. As we have been saying internally, if we didn’t learn a lot about ourselves during this process it would be a huge fail. Fortunately though, we did.

Zoom opened the world. We could interview anyone. We could hold meetings at any time (so many meetings, right?). Slack made us more efficient and allowed us to communicate faster and quickly crosscheck our work. Some of us also used Microsoft Teams. Small broadcast studios were set up in the homes of some of our on air reporters and anchors. We know viewers like their anchors in-studio, so we found a way to make it as safe as possible. I could go on and on, but we’d really like to hear from you. What did you learn about yourself and your company? Can you tackle more than you ever thought possible? Please share with us on social by using the hashtag #PressClubCLE or email me at: dpolverine@wkyc.com. I’d like to share some of your thoughts in the next Byliner. Stay healthy!
