Dear CES Community,

Thank you very much for your participation in our survey! There has definitely been a shift in the opinions of the parent community since the last survey this summer. I also noticed a shift to ‘stronger’ opinions on both sides, which is probably not surprising given the current climate around the issue of the pandemic. We are in the final stages of deciding what the next steps are, and your feedback on both sides of the issue has been very helpful. As we finalize our plans, I would also encourage everyone to not let the wide range of opinions about the best way to respond to the pandemic as a school create fault lines and “sides” in our community as the administrative team and I discern our next steps. No matter what we decide, it will not be what a significant number of our families are hoping to see. And, no matter what we decide, it will not be the return to normal we all want for our children and school. It will, however, be the very best decision we can make for effective student learning and the safety of our students, faculty, and their extended families with an eye towards maintaining continuity as much as possible.

I would also like to thank all of you for the kind words and support for our teachers as they have ventured into the challenging world of beginning the school year virtually (and, in the case of preschool, in person with new requirements!). Like you, I am amazed every day at what they are accomplishing and am very proud to be part of this community!

Blessings,
