A Message from the Head of School:

Dear CES Families,

I hope that each of you enjoyed the long Thanksgiving holiday.  Mine was especially wonderful as I celebrated my granddaughter's first Thanksgiving and also had time for a dinner party with one of my friends from college.  There was a lot of time for connecting and reconnecting, and of course, for oceans of delicious food! Now is the time for trying to exercise a little everyday and watching the carb intake.  Well, at least until Christmas! Luckily for me, Advent starts on December 2, so, well, you know...Christmas cookies and it's all over!

For those of you who were able to attend the chapel service on Grandparents' Day, I hope that you were as touched by what you saw and heard as I was. By the end of it, I was a puddle.  The music was beautiful and so impressive. Each year, the orchestra gets better and better. It is also fun to see where our choral program starts (as our prekindergarten children sing their hearts out), and where it ends up (with our middle school students).  My two favorite pieces were the African song that the lower school children sang, Hakuna Wakaita, and the final song, When I Close My Eyes, that the 7th and 8th grades sang together.  It was a joyful and moving service, and it reminded me of all that we have to be thankful for.

There are many exciting events coming up at CES... the ballroom dancing recital for 8th grade, the 6th grade How the Grinch Stole Christmas readers' theater, the kindergarten/preschool Sweet Shop, the Christmas concert and all the special classroom activities.  Christmas is a busy, busy time. As we all prepare our hearts and minds for this special time, I pray for peace, joy, energy and the knowledge of God's presence in and around you.

With love and gratitude,

Caroline Chapin, Ed. D.
