Celebrating Tender Mercies

Dear Calvary Community,

Since the mid-1980s, Tender Mercies has had a vision to be the premier provider of permanent supportive housing for homeless adults with mental illness. For years now, Calvary Church has been a source of support for these adults, preparing, delivering, and serving Sunday dinner once a month.

Philomena McCauley has been the most recent ministry coordinator for our Tender Mercies outreach at Calvary. Philomena has lovingly cultivated recipes and attached them to cooking pans, purchased supplies, posted sign-up sheet, coordinated volunteers, and finalized the preparation for the monthly meal. This month, Philomena will step down from her leadership role in Tender Mercies.

Maggie Davis, who coordinated the meals in the earlier-2000s, is stepping back up to serve as coordinator for this ministry moving forward. Maggie brings her own special touches to the ministry, and plans to bring back some of her “old favorite” recipes that she remembers the residents particularly enjoying.

I would like to thank Philomena for her years of leadership in this outreach ministry. And, thank you to Maggie for stepping up and being willing to continue our tradition of nourishing and caring for our more vulnerable neighbors struggling with mental illness in Over-the-Rhine.

Would you be willing to consider supporting this ministry? Click Here to see this month’s recipes and sign up for a slot. The sign-up sheet can still be found on the Outreach Bulletin Board in Hannaford Hall, as well.

Gratefully,
The Reverend Allison English
Rector
