Calvary 2020
"Why I pledge to Calvary Church"
Stewardship Reflection
by Jim Harrell

I want to begin my story on July 3 rd , 2018. I was coming back from the dentist when a policeman stopped me and took me to Mercy West Hospital. I spent more than a week in intensive care. I was than carried out and put into an ambulance and taken to a nursing home. I was visited twice by Allison English. She did not know me and was new to Calvary Church. She had compassion on me. I did not want to spend my life in a nursing home, so I begin to complain that I wanted to be discharged. It was a full two months before I was permitted to step foot in my home. Allison English came to visit me at home twice. Members of the congregation came several times. I just wanted to mention the compassion of the church.

The things I like that the Calvary is beautiful, and the music is excellent. I like watching the rector interacting with the parish children, especially during the children’s sermons. I think the coffee hour is important as it allows an opportunity to meet other members of the congregation. I want to thank the parish for having patience and compassion with me and allowing me time to heal.
