An Extraordinary Season

Dear Parishioners,

Extraordinary: adjective
beyond what is usual, ordinary, regular, or established

This word is perhaps the most kind way of describing what has been a horrendous year that has thrown anything normal out the window.

God came into the world in an extraordinary way. God entrusted a young, poor teenage woman to be the bearer of God. God made a way where there seemed to be no way.

This Christmas, in a year where we can't fill the church and sing out with joy, we will celebrate an extraordinary Christmas, beyond what is usual, God's Holy Word, the beauty of song, and the story of God's miraculous incarnation will be found this year outside of the walls of our building.

I hope you'll join us virtually for:

Sunday's Advent Lessons and Carols
featuring the Cincinnati Fusion Ensemble
7:30 PM
Online at the website and Facebook Live.

Christmas Eve Online service - an online pageant, carols, message and prayers available to view for worship from 3:30 p.m. on demand all afternoon and evening

And on our church campus outdoors on Christmas Eve:

Christmas Eve Display- 4:15 p.m - 6:15 p.m.
Recount the story of Christ's birth and take the path to find the Christ Child outside on Calvary's Campus.
Children are invited to present a gift for the Christ Child.
All are invited to make offerings to St. Andrew's Food Pantry
(hygiene items and condiments are a special request).
A place to make monetary offerings will be available.
Sign up below.

Christmas Lights - Enjoy the lights adorning our historic church building through the Feast of the Epiphany, January 6.

How will you greet the Newborn King this year?

The Reverend Allison English
African Team Ministry Gift Sales

Calvary Youth Group took over hosting African Team Ministries three years ago, but we have enjoyed their jewelry and gifts for many years. Your purchase from their website helps African Team Ministries send drip irrigation kits to countries in East Africa. Please continue to support African Team Ministries and the work they do. The Youth Group donated $250 to support African Team Ministries.

Mondays in Advent Advent of the Heart
A Study with the Clergy
7:30-8:30 PM, concludes Monday 12/21

Join Rev. Olivia and Rev. Allison for an exploration of Alfred Delp, a priest and martyr, in his profound writings on the meaning of this forthcoming season.

"Drop-ins" to the study welcome.

St Andrew's Food Pantry
Calvary has been supporting St. Andrews Episcopal Church Food Pantry for many years; I am grateful to step into the role of communication between Calvary and St. Andrews Food Pantry; Tate and Anne Greenwald previously notified Calvary Church community of needs at the Pantry and carried contributions from Calvary to St. Andrews. They are stepping aside and I have made contact with the organizers of St. Andrews.

Current ( December 2020) needs at the St.Andrews Pantry include:
Hygiene items: shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, lotion, soap, etc.
Food: NO MORE Mac-n-Cheese ( they have ENOUGH)
Protein such as canned tuna, meats, etc.
Condiments: Ketchup, Mustard, Mayo, Salad dressing, Hot Sauce, etc.

Many visitors to the Food Pantry live alone and small sizes are appreciated for cans/bottles.
If there are any questions or a need for me to come pick up items for donations please call or text me at 513-515-1166. Email: Miriam here.
Respectfully submitted , Miriam Hill
