From the Rector

Dear Calvary Parish,

Did you know that Easter is more than just a day? In the church, we celebrate the 40 days that Jesus walked with earth post-resurrection before his ascension to the Father, and the 10 days after that before the Holy Spirit came at Pentecost. That's 50 days to focus on being joyful, hopeful, and thankful.

Many of you have picked up Calvary’s Eastertide Thanksgivings. Compiled by retired bishop and Calvary parishioner Nedi Rivera, the booklet explores a psalm verse a day and one thing for which we can be thankful. You can pick up your copy on the stage at church if you have not yet received one.

Archbishop Justin Welby explores the concept of gratitude in prayer in this two-minute video (click to watch).

Meister Eckhart, a 14th century theologian, said, “If the only prayer you ever say in your entire life is thank you, it will be enough.”

For what can we be thankful in these great 50 days of Easter?

In thanksgiving and praise,

The Reverend Allison English
