Small & Mighty

Dear Calvary Parishioners,

This week I was on the phone with a parishioner who shared with me that he had read that the virus itself is the same size as 1/10,000th of the width of a human hair. He shared that it has given him pause to reflect on the profundity of our Creator. That so much of what is real is invisible to the human eye.

If there is anything redemptive in itself about COVID-19, it is that it has taught us that very small things can have an enormous impact. After all, it was Jesus who said, “For truly I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.” (Matthew 17:20)

It was just a couple of weeks ago that a conversation between a couple of people in College Hill that developed into an estimated 2000 people participating in the “Line the Avenue for Justice and Equality” Vigil. A tiny seed of an idea emerged and grew exponentially. Seven miles of Hamilton Avenue were filled with physically distanced people of all ages and abilities, individuals and families, standing at a safe distance apart, yet together. It was a force for Good.

What if we placed our faith and trust in the invisible forces of Love and Grace as much as we followed the activity of the Coronavirus? They exist, and are just as real and I believe infinitely more powerful than microscopic pathogens.

Helping in our Community
Tender Mercies residents are still hungry ! One way we can help is to have meals delivered or dropped off. Unfortunately, we cannot not stay to serve. Please consider a donation to Calvary marked for Tender Mercies. Paul and Maggie Davis will coordinate delivery. Thanks
Very exciting news for Clairice and Hannah Galey- they just welcomed FOUR foster children from one family into their home.
Please click HERE to provide a meal for this wonderful family.

IHN News
Update from Ministry Leader Dave Meyer
The Cathedral's scheduled IHN host week of July 12 has been cancelled. The families will begin their church rotation the following week in July. I confirmed that the Cathedral is willing to host the previously scheduled weeks of August 30 and November 15.

Calvary will not be hosting at the Cathedral for the July 16 date. I replied to her that we would be willing to support the Cathedral's hosting in accordance with the arrangements that are being worked out with IHN for resumption of the program. I feel we can certainly provide dinners that can be delivered to the Cathedral, and participate in serving the dinner and hosting to the degree that will be possible with whatever restrictions they adopt. We can stand ready to support IHN directly in addition to the monetary contribution Calvary makes to IHN.

Thanks very much, and have a good, healthy week! Cheers - Dave Meyer

Tentative Phased Return to
On-site Worship
The Calvary Church Vestry Re-Open Team has determined Ju ly 12 as our tentative re-open date - for Sunday worship only. This will only move forward if the COVID numbers trend down in the next week.

Our PRIMARY worship will continue ONLINE at 10:30 AM until further notice.

In-person worship with significant restrictions and a carefully-disinfected worship space will be offered at 1:00 PM, as long as the COVID-positive numbers in Hamilton County continue to trend down.

Dramatic preparations, restrictions, and changes to worship are required of us by the Diocese of Southern Ohio. We will work together to "get used to" this new way of doing worship.

Coffee Hour, Sunday school, weekday offerings, and all outside groups will continue either online or to be on hiatus until further notice.
Sunday Virtual
