Lenten Penance Service Next Week
Next Wednesday, April 6th, there will be a Lenten Penance Service at 6pm.

Not only does the Sacrament of Penance free us from our sins but it also challenges us to have the same kind of compassion and forgiveness for those who sin against us. We are liberated to be forgivers. We obtain new insight into the words of the Prayer of St. Francis: "It is in pardoning that we are pardoned."

Jesus entrusted the ministry of reconciliation to the Church. The Sacrament of Penance is God's gift to us so that any sin committed after Baptism can be forgiven. In confession we have the opportunity to repent and recover the grace of friendship with God. It is a holy moment in which we place ourselves in his presence and honestly acknowledge our sins, especially mortal sins. With absolution, we are reconciled to God and the Church. The Sacrament helps us stay close to the truth that we cannot live without God. "In him we live and move and have our being" (Acts 17:28).
Ministers Needed!
We need Votive Candle ministers! Votive Candle ministers check the votive prayer candles on Tuesdays and Fridays of each week, replacing the extinguished candles with a fresh candle. Parents and grandparents, this is a wonderful way to spend time together and introduce ministerial responsibility to a child who has had First Communion but is not yet old enough to be trained as an altar server. Ministers will first come to the parish office to get the sacristy key to have access to candles. Click here to sign up for the Votive Candle Ministry!
We also need Ushers. Ushers are responsible for things like seating Mass attendees, taking up collections, bringing forth the gifts at the Offertory, and handing out bulletins after Mass. While these ministers are needed at every Mass, there is a particular need for them at 8am. If you are able to serve, just show up at the Usher's Room before Mass (the door at the top of the stairs on the west side of the church, across from the Priest's Sacristy) and someone will show you what to do.
Lunch & A Movie Out!
We have a limited number of tickets to see the movie Father Stu on Tuesday, April 19th at 1pm. Based on a true story, Father Stu is an unflinchingly honest, funny and ultimately uplifting drama about a lost soul who finds his purpose in a most unexpected place. Our plan is to meet at CK at 11am and head somewhere for lunch before seeing the movie. Movie tickets are $7/each, and lunch and movie snacks are on your own. Please call Pam at (405) 842-1483 to reserve your ticket!
