Weekend Announcements

There will be a bilingual Mass tonight, July 28th, at 7pm at the Blessed Stanley Rother Shrine in honor of his Feast Day. There will also be a Family Day and Picnic from 9am - 12:30pm at the zocalo and pilgrim center.

If you are expecting a baby or know someone who is, there will be a special Blessing of a Child in the Womb for pregnant women after all Masses this weekend in front of the baptismal font.

Just a reminder that all certificates for the archdiocesan Safe Environment training will expire on Monday, July 31st. The next training course will be available on Tuesday, August 1st and must be completed by August 30th. This training applies to all those who work or volunteer at Christ the King Church or Christ the King School.

Monday, July 31st is the last day for parishioners attending Bishop McGuinness or Mount St. Mary to apply for the Knights of Columbus Jim Weinmann Bridge Scholarship.

School's starting soon! We'd like to start everyone's year off on a good note, so Fr. Rex will give a special blessing to all students and teachers returning to school this year at each Mass next weekend, August 5th and 6th.

Road Closure on Guilford

A portion of Guilford Lane (in between the 2 entrances to the north parking lot) will be closed until August 23rd due to repairs done by the City of Nichols Hills. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Pray for our Priests

As Fr. Kalivela gets ready to travel to his home diocese in India, we ask that you keep him - and all priests - in your prayers.

Prayer for Priests

Gracious and loving God, we thank you for the gift of our priests.

Through them, we experience your presence in the sacraments.

Help our priests to be strong in their vocation.

Set their souls on fire with love for your people.

Grant them the wisdom, understanding, and strength they need to follow in the footsteps of Jesus.

Inspire them with the vision of your Kingdom.

Give them the words they need to spread the Gospel.

Allow them to experience joy in their ministry.

Help them to become instruments of your divine grace.

We ask this through Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns as our Eternal Priest.

Amen.

From the Parish Life Office

Our next Senior Adult Luncheon is at 12 noon on Monday, August 7th. Parishioner Will Luttrell is bringing his Singo machine (like Bingo, but with songs from the 50s and 60s)! Bring something to share and come ready to have fun. Let us know if you'll be coming at 242-4531 so we'll have enough fried chicken.

On Thursday, August 17th the Parish Life Office will take a day trip to the Stafford Air and Space Museum in Weatherford, followed by lunch. Plan on leaving CK at 9:30am. Call us at 242-4531 to reserve your spot.

Additionally...we really need a few bus drivers to pick up homebound parishioners for one weekend Mass every six to eight weeks. We have two stops at this time, and you can drive for either the 5pm Mass, the 10am Mass, or the 12:15pm Mass. You can drive your car or use our handicap bus (no CDL needed, but must be Safe Environment trained). Call Pam or Kathy in the Parish Office for more information.

We also need a pair of volunteers to deliver "Meals on Wheels" twice a month on the 2nd and 4th Friday. Meals are prepared by the Oklahoma County Nutrition Center. Our volunteers pick up the prepared meals at 122nd and Pennsylvania and deliver to about 20 of the homebound and elderly in our community. Christ the King has been supplying volunteers for this ministry for almost 30 years, and some of our volunteers have been doing this for over 20 years! No experience necessary but lots of gratitude given. If you and a friend or family member are interested in volunteering to deliver meals to those who might otherwise go without, please call the Parish Office.

Membership Update

Does Christ the King have YOUR family membership record correct? Here's your chance to update your record for our annual Guide Book & Directory. It's time for us to update our database with any changes, additions or deletions that may have occurred in your family in the past year. Have you changed your phone number? Have you moved? Are you preparing to move? Are all of your children still at home and are they all included in your membership record? Do you want your record published?

If you have not already informed the Parish Office about changes to your record, please let us know now so that the information in the Guide Book & Directory is correct. Our office number is (405) 842-1481. Thanks for your help!
