COVID-19 cases and positivity rate remain high but trending downward
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear indicated Thursday that COVID-19 cases and the state positivity rate remain high, but the numbers are trending downward. Kentucky surpassed 13,000 deaths total since the beginning of the pandemic over the last week. More than 2.8 million Kentuckians are vaccinated, but Beshear urged those eligible who haven't been vaccinated to do so.

· Masks are required indoors at Kentucky State University. 
· If you have traveled out of Kentucky, please complete the COVID-19 Self-Reporting Travel Form prior to your return to campus. 
· Complete the COVID-19 Self-screening Process daily prior to entering any campus buildings. 
· If you feel sick, stay away from campus and notify your supervisor of your absence and take official leave. 
· Kentucky State University’s operational alert status is red, which means Kentucky State is open but activities are heavily restricted. 
· If you did not take the mandatory training for all campus community members, you must do so now. Supervisors will be contacting employees who have not completed the mandatory course.

· COVID-19 vaccines are still recommended as the best way to prevent severe illness and hospitalization for any COVID variant. The CDC now strongly recommends that anyone 18+ who is eligible for a booster receive a booster.

COVID-19 vaccine appointments may be scheduled at the Franklin County Health Department by calling (502) 564-7647. Students and employees who report they attend/are employed by Kentucky State may be eligible for a $25 Visa gift card (while supplies last) upon completion of their vaccine series with the Franklin County Health Department (after the second dose of Pfizer/Moderna or a single dose of Johnson & Johnson). The incentive is not available for vaccine boosters. The incentive is only available for Kentucky State students and employees who are vaccinated by the Franklin County Health Department.
COVID-19 testing in Franklin County
COVID-19 testing events will occur through Gravity Labs every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 7 a.m. until 9 a.m. at the Franklin County Health Department - Public Health Center, located at 851 East-West Connector. Test is available for the entire community. Questions may be directed to [email protected]. No pre-registration is required. Gravity Labs will email testing results to the email provided.

Mandatory COVID-19 training for all campus community members

Kentucky State University is using Vector LMS, Higher Education Edition to offer training courses online for your convenience.

  • Every student and employee of our campus community must complete the mandatory “Coronavirus 103-Managing Stress and Anxiety/ Coronavirus 108-The Basics of Vaccines” to begin training, please click here (detailed log-in instructions below).
  • Everyone on campus or reporting to campus must do the daily COVID-19 self-screening process.
  • Every member of the campus community must also quarantine if they feel even slightly sick or show any symptoms related to COVID-19.

All members of our campus community are responsible for COVID-19 safety. The actions we take will affect the lives of others, and in this environment are life and death decisions. At Kentucky State University, each person’s life, whether student, faculty or staff, is important.

Failure to comply with the proper protocols can result in death, severe health problems, and the closure of our campus.
