OPERATIONAL ALERT STATUS
HIGH RISK
Kentucky State is open, but activities are heavily restricted.
Cases declining in the Commonwealth
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear updated the Commonwealth on COVID-19 cases this week. Data is trending in the right direction as Kentuckians continue to get vaccinated. Deaths related to the pandemic remain high, however.

The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) met Oct. 20-21 to make recommendations regarding booster doses for both Moderna and Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines, according to the governor’s press release. The FDA’s Vaccines and Related Biological Advisory Committee is scheduled to meet Oct. 26 and the CDC’s ACIP is scheduled to meet Nov. 2-3 to discuss Pfizer vaccinations for children ages 5 to 11, according to the release. Continue to monitor the news and local health guidance for updates on vaccine boosters.

As always, masks are required in classrooms and all indoor spaces at Kentucky State University regardless of vaccination status. If PPE is needed for classrooms, please submit a request to COVID19@kysu.edu.
