Kentucky State is open, but activities are heavily restricted.
Breds, it’s time to get your vaccine
As the seasons begin to change, it’s time to get your COVID-19 vaccine. With cold and flu seasons ramping up, as well, we want all Thorobreds to be protected and to help protect each other. If you haven’t already, strongly consider getting your COVID-19 vaccine and your flu shot. With the mental and physical toll the pandemic has already taken, protecting yourself against illness will mitigate future risk.

This week the FDA authorized booster shots of the Pfizer vaccine for people over 65 and others at risk of getting severe COVID-19. According to the FDA press release, the following are eligible for the booster:

  • individuals 65 years of age and older;
  • individuals 18 through 64 years of age at high risk of severe COVID-19; and
  • individuals 18 through 64 years of age whose frequent institutional or occupational exposure to SARS-CoV-2 puts them at high risk of serious complications of COVID-19 including severe COVID-19.

We must continue to wear masks indoors regardless of vaccination status, maintain social distance of at least six feet and wash hands thoroughly and often. Masks are required in classrooms and all indoor spaces at Kentucky State University. If PPE is needed for classrooms, please submit a request to COVID19@kysu.edu.
