Supporting Healthy Aging Through Parks and Recreation (SHAPR)

"NRPA with the support of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is pleased to announce the availability of the Supporting Healthy Aging Through Parks and Recreation (SHAPR) grant. This grant supports park and recreation professionals to increase access, availability, participation, and sustainable support for programs that improve physical activity, engagement, and the quality of life for older adults."

The deadline for submission has been extended to December 16th, 2022

WHAT is the Financial Sustainability Certification Program?


The Financial Sustainability Certification Program is designed to enhance and accelerate career growth for park and recreation professionals. This intensive program will address complex issues including the pressing need to practice financial discipline and acknowledge the responsibility park and recreation professionals have as stewards of taxpayer dollars.


Program Format = 18 contact hours including 15 hours of content (1.5 CEUs)

Day 1 (Feb. 21st): 9 am – 4 pm (includes lunch and two, 15 minute breaks)

Day 2 (Feb. 22nd): 9 am – 4 pm (includes lunch and two, 15 minute breaks)

Day 3 (Feb. 23rd): 9 am – 1 pm (includes two, 15 minute breaks)

Grant Funding Announced for UCHealth Colorado Statewide Wellness Campaign!

UCHealth has formed a statewide

partnership with National Fitness Campaign (NFC) to launch $1,000,000 in grant funding for

cities, municipalities and schools across Colorado,

to support the goal of making Colorado the

healthiest state in America. This funding will be allocated to support municipalities, schools, and

organizations across the state in joining the growing NFC wellness campaign, now open in over a

dozen communities in Colorado, announcing its 500th healthy community in 2023.


Through our partnership with NFC, CPRA is pleased to provide priority access to early

application briefings for CPRA members across Colorado who may be interested in qualifying for

funding and partnership. The briefing is a 30-minute Zoom call which will qualify your

community for a feasibility study and grant application.
