Hi Allison,

CRJ has enjoyed exciting growth this past year, and we have a lot to look forward to as we settle into 2024. We're adding new members and programs to our team - and expanding the roles of some of our senior leaders.

Here's the latest:

  • This past year, our Behavioral Health and Family Reentry team were awarded one of only four national SAMSHA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) grants to build a new recovery center! The "Bridge to Recovery" Center will open this spring in our Bridgeport, CT office. Led by our new Program Director, Michelle Harter, and Program Manager, Carol Cruz, the recovery center will offer support groups, recovery services, and more for the Connecticut community.
  • To grow our reentry programming, CRJ has submitted a proposal to operate a Day Reporting Center in Vermont. Day Reporting Centers (DRCs) are non-residential community-based programs that support individuals under supervision. Day reporting programs target substance use, mental health, and/or cognitive/behavioral issues through counseling, educational programming, and close supervision. We are currently waiting to see if our proposal is accepted by the Federal Bureau of Prisons - an exciting new adventure for our SJS team!
  • In addition to his CS duties, Bill Ames is providing leadership support to our facilities team! In tandem with Jim Greene and Bob Pritchard, Bill works in partnership with our service line leaders to ensure all of CRJ's properties are well maintained.
  • Picking up where Ellen Donnarumma left off, Megan Piccirillo is supporting our development and philanthropy operations. Alongside Allie Knowles, our Grants and Development Manager, and Kenny Wallace, our Development Operations Coordinator, they make up our newest team at CRJ: External Affairs!

I'll make sure to keep everyone in the loop as we take on these new and exciting opportunities. Please reach out to me if you have any questions about our structure or the direction we are going. I'm always happy to chat.

With gratitude,

Deb

The report is the culmination of over a year of rigorous review of Oklahoma’s jails at the state and local level as part of a Justice Reinvestment Initiative (JRI). The Task Force has submitted the report to legislative leaders for consideration during the 2024 legislative session, which began on February 5th, 2024.
