Greetings!

This month is all about celebrating the hard work of our employees and having a little fun along the way. May 31st will mark our Annual CRJ Awards Ceremony, where we honor staff for exemplifying the values of CRJ and celebrate the staff who have dedicated many years of service to our organization. It's sure to be a fun day - and we encourage everyone to RSVP to one of two times to celebrate our award winners!

May is also Mental Health Awareness Month. I'm thrilled that two of our CRJ leaders - Nicky Abrosca and Abimbola Iyun - were recently certified as mental health first aid responders. Mental health first aid teaches adults how to recognize the signs and symptoms that suggest a potential mental health challenge, how to listen nonjudgmentally and give reassurance to a person who may be experiencing a mental health challenge, and how to refer a person to appropriate professional support and services. They will be leading CRJ through a informative session at the end of the month, and I encourage you to RSVP!

If you have any questions about today's Journal or the work featured, I'm here to listen at dobrien@crj.org. Thank you for everything you do.

A Day in NYC for CSMA-Sturbridge

The team at CSMA- Sturbridge Program had a great day in New York City, taking the individuals to a live showing of Hamilton and an afternoon to explore Time Square! This is a big success for the individuals in this program as they have had many challenges over the past years and all worked on their skills to make this trip successful. CRJ staff went above and beyond to ensure a great trip for all.

Family ReEntry Goes Lives on Carelogic!

Congratulations to team Family ReEntry - who worked for months to sucessfully get CareLogic online and running! Carelogic is the new electronic health record system that provides a platform for a client's medical history and includes all the key administrative clinical data relevant to a person's care under one system.

The FRE team went live on April 3rd - meaning the staff converted from using paper record to all electronic client records. This will have a significant impact on making our work safer and more efficient for the people we serve. Congratulations, team!

Spring Scavenger Hunt!

Spring is here and the weather is getting warm! The Rewards, Recognition and Retention Committee (RRRC) is hosting a spring scavenger hunt contest to get us outside in nature. We encouarge all employees and residents/indivuduals across all service lines to particpate in the contest.

What's New at CJI

In May, CJI’s pretrial team is hosting regional events in Tennessee to bring criminal justice and behavioral health professionals together to improve outcomes for justice-involved individuals and communities. National experts and local leaders will discuss innovative pretrial programs, potential partnerships between criminal justice and mental health agencies, and ways to maximize limited resources to create effective programs.

Check out CJI’s website to learn more about the events and read an interview with CJI’s VP, Spurgeon Kennedy

CJI released a new publication called Tennessee Office of Reentry: Creating Pathways to Successful Reentry through Employment. This new publication spotlights the Tennessee Office of Reentry, which strives to help people exiting incarceration succeed in the community by removing barriers and improving state-coordinated reentry processes. Unlike in many states, Tennessee’s reentry office is intentionally embedded in the Department of Labor & Workforce Development, using employment as a springboard to address the broad range of issues a person involved with the justice system may face.
