The first day of school is fast approaching. Soon, summer will be at an end and school campuses will be filled with students and teachers. That morning bell will be ringing yet again.
Teachers across the state are putting in hours now preparing for the 2019-2020 school year. But unfortunately, teachers are having unnecessary requirements thrown on them preventing them from simply teaching the basics to our kids.
The main union organization that represents teachers, the California Teachers Association (CTA), has taken political positions and had a very active role in supporting many new teaching requirements thrown on teachers that amount to the promotion of liberal political agendas. They have also opposed many protections for parental rights.
For decades, teachers in California have been forced to join the CTA as a condition of employment. If they want to teach, they are forced to be a member of the CTA and have a portion of their paycheck given to the CTA’s political bosses. They had no say in the matter. If the CTA supported an issue that goes against a teacher’s deeply held belief, tough for them.
But all that changed in 2018 when the United States Supreme Court ruled in favor of teacher’s rights. In the case of Janus vs. AFSCME 585 US (2018), the Supreme Court ruled that taking a portion of a teacher’s pay and being forced to join the union was unconstitutional. It further ruled that the union must get expressed permission from the teacher before dues can be taken out and they become a member.
There’s good reason for teachers to NOT join the CTA
. And we encourage you to ask your child’s teacher to consider doing just that. Here is a simple, easy guide for teachers to use if they want to remain independent and not have their money go to political causes or advocacy they would object to.

The California Teachers Association has been a key player in supporting some of the most controversial, sexually offensive, questionable, and intrusive pieces of legislation related to schools, curriculum and parental rights.
Here are just a few of the most recent policies they have pushed for and supported:
Senate Bill 777 was signed into law by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2007. This law forced school districts to have school activities and programs, including sports and cheer leading, that are not perceived as having a “discriminating bias” to lesbian, gay or transgender students. This law forced schools to open up events such as Prom King and Prom Queen competitions to boys who perceived themselves as girls and girls who perceive themselves as boys. Cheer squads now have to allow boys who think they are girls. The law further prevents school materials from “reflecting adversely” against homosexual, bisexual and transgender students.
2009
SB 572: “Harvey Milk Day”
Senate Bill 572 forces the Governor to declare every May 22
nd
of each year as “Harvey Milk Day”.All California schools are required to incorporate some form of teachings about Harvey Milk into their lesson plans for the day. Harvey Milk was the first openly homosexual person to be elected to office in the early 1970’s when he became a San Francisco County Supervisor. Schools are only allowed to promote positive teachings about Milk, despite his reported sexual encounters with underaged teens.
Senate Bill 48 was signed into law by Gov. Jerry Brown. The CTA was one of the main supporters behind Senate Bill 48. SB 48 forces all California schools to adopt new textbooks and curriculum that favorably portrays and promotes homosexual, bisexual and transgender lifestyles.Curriculum had to be updated to begin the active promotion of these sexual lifestyles by teachers in all subjects such as family life, health, social studies, history, etc.
2013
AB 1266: Transgender Bathrooms, Showers, Facilities & Sports
Assembly Bill 1266 made California the first state in the nation to force all schools to allow transgender students to use the bathrooms, locker rooms, showers, and other facilities of the sex/gender they perceive themselves to be. Any biological male student who simply feels like they are a girl can gain access to girl’s bathrooms and other private facilities under this law. Also, any biological male who perceives themselves to be a girl can try out and play on girls’ sports teams and events. This law has placed teachers in the awkward and uncomfortable position of having to allow biological males and females to use the opposite sex facilities.
2015
SB 277: Removing the Personal & Moral Exemption Right of Parents
The CTA took an active role in seeing that Senate Bill 277 was signed into law. SB 277 got rid of the right of parents to prevent their child from receiving forced injections for personal or moral reasons. The prior right of parents to protect their child from vaccinations that they personally or morally were against is now gone thanks to SB 277 being enacted. The CTA feels that state government officials know better than parents about a child’s health and medical issues.
2015
AB 329: “Comprehensive Sexual Ed”
Assembly Bill 329 forced all schools to adopt the new “comprehensive sexual education” requirements for students. These “comprehensive” requirements force schools to promote the sexual practices of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender lifestyles. School curriculum and materials show students what are the best practices to engage in such lifestyles, such as condom and lubricant usage.
2018
AB 2601:
Comprehensive Sex Ed for ALL Charter Schools
Assembly bill 2601forced all charter schools to
adopt the new “comprehensive sexual education” requirements for students. These “comprehensive” requirements force schools to promote the sexual practices of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender lifestyles. School curriculum and materials show students what are the best practices to engage in such lifestyles, such as condom and lubricant usage.
2019
SB 276: Forced Injections. Restrict Medical/Doctor’s Health Exemption
During the present legislative session in Sacramento, the CTA is supporting Senate Bill 276. This bill would severely restrict a doctor’s ability to write an exemption for a child from receiving required injections.Once again, the CTA believes that the state is the ultimate authority on a child’s medical issues, not doctors, not parents, and wants to force over 10 vaccinations on a minor.
2019
AB 493: Required LGBT Materials and Training for Charter School Teacher
s
Going through the state legislative now is Assembly Bill 493. This bill would change existing law and would force public and charter schools to conduct sensitivity training to its certified personnel and teachers in grades 7 to 12 in “support of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ)” students. Schools would also be required to provide “community resources” positively affirming and advocating these lifestyles to youth. The bill is specifically clear that ONLY materials and resources from organizations and groups that positively promote these lifestyles is to be usedby public schools and charter schools!!
It is very clear that the union responsible for representing all teachers in California has clearly signed on to a very radical, liberal, intrusive, anti-parent agenda. Teachers no longer have to be part of the CTA if they object to the agenda they are pushing on teachers and our kids.
Here is what you can do to help make an impact:
1.
Talk with your child’s teacher this new school year.
Share with them some of the actions the CTA has taken and ask the teacher if they agree with these positions.
There they will learn of their rights regarding union membership and forced dues issues. In California, they do not have to pay forced union dues!
3.
Contact us to let us know about your experience when you have talked with your child’s teacher. We want to know about what you are told and what is happening on the ground in your school district and child’s campus.
