Caf�, Comic-Con Books, and Other News ...
Yes, it is true! The long awaited opening of Catalina Coffee & Caf� inside the Redondo Beach store is now here! Beginning this week, you can come in and visit with the new staff, try some complementary baked goods, and purchase their fabulous coffee or other drinks and treats. Then you can have a cozy seat and enjoy reading the great book you just bought from Mysterious Galaxy!
In San Diego, you can check out the stash of signed first editions the staff brought back from Comic-Con. Comic-Con 2012 was another great year with 100,000 of our dearest friends. Thanks to those of you who made it through the rows of comics, urban vinyl, and entertaining t-shirts to support the attending authors. As with all of our events, in-store and off-site, your book purchases send the clear and critical message to publishers that it's a viable venue to send authors to.
We are hosting some great events in both stores, have a bunch of new arrivals from our publishers, and have new printed newsletters with event news and reviews to share with you.

In Store and Out in Redondo Beach
Romance Writers at the Cerritos Library and
Joelle Charbonneau, Kate Elliot, Lynn Flewelling,
Lex Thomas, and Harry Turledove in the store! Romance Writers! Love is in the air as the Romance Writers of America hold their annual conference in Anaheim. A select panel representing a variety of romantic subgenres, moderated by Alma Katsu, will speak at the Cerritos Library on Thursday evening.

Tonight you can cozy up with mystery author Joelle Charbonneau and discuss Murder for Choir, first in her new Glee Club Mystery Series.
This Weekend
Weekend events kick off at noon on Saturday with the Happy Hour Book Group discussion of Year Zero, led by Adrean.
Our fantastic Saturday afternoon event with authors Kate Elliott and Lynn Flewelling will focus on Cold Fire, Kate's new Cold Mages novel, and Casket of Souls, Lynn's latest in her Nightrunners series.
Sunday brings a duo of authors writing together as "Lex Thomas," when Lex Hrabe and Thomas Voorhies introduce readers to the deadly world of Quarantine: The Loners, (highly recommended by Patrick).

Don't miss our Tuesday evening launch party for staff favorite and seminal-alternate-history author Harry Turtledove, and the latest installment in the War that Came Early series, Coup d'Etat.
Caf� News
 We can vouch for the food and the coffee .. and you can now try what we hope will be the best community third place in the South Bay yourself! So, come in, relax, and enjoy treats in the Catalina Coffee & Caf� site inside the RB store. Their menu includes blended coffee drinks, breakfast treats, sandwiches, and more.
Stay tuned for more news as they settle in ... We are planning lots of joint events and other fun surprises.

We are very happy to welcome back Holly Black, in her role as a Clarion Workshop instructor, this evening. She will be discussing Black Heart.
Daniel Suarez brings his high-tech thrills back to the Galaxy on Sunday, discussing Kill Decision. 
And Cassandra Clare brings our annual summer visits with Clarion instructors to a close next Wednesday, with a look at both her Mortal Instruments and Infernal Devices series.
