Professor Susan Bisom-Rapp was quoted by Law360 on August 17 in an article, "Strike Questions at Fore as Calif. Gig Drivers Near Unionizing" written by Braden Campbell. She discussed the challenges that the California gig workers' union may encounter in achieving pay increases for Uber and Lyft drivers through collective bargaining and mandatory contract arbitration.

Professor Kristen van de Biezenbos's article, "Rate-Packing and California’s Climate Conundrum," is forthcoming in a special issue of Energy Policy, the top-rated peer-reviewed journal on energy and social science.

Professor Kristen van de Biezenbos's co-authored book chapter, “The Thames Water Crisis and Lessons for US Energy Regulators,” is forthcoming in Blue Sky Thinking in a Red Sky World (Environmental Law Institute Press, 2027).

Professor Amy Kimpel gave a CLE training to the Huntsville, Alabama Bar Association about "Collateral Consequences of Criminal Cases" on August 6.

Professor Kenneth Klein, who serves as a Consumer Representative to the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, attended the Summer National Meeting in Columbus, Ohio, August 11-14. He presented at the Consumer Liaison Meeting on the importance of analyzing comprehensive data related to alleged "nuclear" verdicts and served as an invited commenter to the Privacy Protection Working Group. His research was cited in the adopted Homeowner's Affordability and Availability of Homeowners Insurance Playbook, a resource for state insurance regulators, legislators, and policymakers.

Professor Kristen van de Biezenbos will attend a planning meeting for the Western Transmission Catalyst, a Canadian government-funded project to develop a roadmap for an Indigenous-owned transmission line supplying renewable energy across provincial borders. The meeting will take place in Victoria, Canada, on August 27-28.

Professor Kristen van de Biezenbos will present "Lights Out: Data Centres and the Coming Strain on the Electric Grid" as part of the Social Study lecture series in San Diego, at Mike Hess Brewery in North Park on September 8.

Professor Susan Bisom-Rapp will attend, speak, and moderate at the 2026 Colloquium on Scholarship in Employment and Labor Law (COSELL), hosted this year by the University of California, Berkeley School of Law. On September 18, she will present her paper, "America First and the Platform Economy at the International Labour Organization." On September 19, she will moderate the panel "Rebuilding Collective Power: Strikes, Shops, Solidarity."

Dean Miriam Baer joined the Louis M. Welsh American Inn of Court, an association of judges, experienced practitioners, junior attorneys, and students. It was founded in 1983 and is the ninth inn that was chartered in the nation. The American Inns of Court include over 20,000 members nationally; made up of “masters of the bench,” “barristers” and “associates,” their purpose is "to improve the skills, professionalism and ethics of the bench and bar." Also joining the Welsh Inn are California Western 3Ls Ashley Munyon, Jacquelyn Guh, Cheyenne Pence, and Rodrigo Vela.
