The Strong(Her) Challenge
Help us be Strong(Her) together by joining the Strong(Her) Challenge!
As we all continue to look for ways to make a difference and put our values into action, we hope that we can count on you to act locally. Will you join us for the Strong(Her) Challenge? There is so much going on in the world and it can be overwhelming to know the best way to help or get involved, but no matter what, you can always make a difference in your community.
We know that together we can empower more women to find a job, move into their own homes, reach their goals, and rebuild their lives. You have the opportunity to take action and make an incredible difference in the lives of women in our community.

How will you choose to be Strong(Her) together? Let us know which challenge you completed and why by sharing a video or photo with the hashtag #StrongHerTogether and tagging Calvary on social media, or send it to [email protected].

Despite these uncertain times, the one thing we know for sure is that your support will continue to change lives. I hope you will choose to make a difference today and join the Strong(Her) Challenge!
We Are In This Together
Last month, Calvary supporters from around the country laced up their shoes and walked, ran, and biked in support of the women we serve!

We surpassed our goal TWICE and raised over $42,000. These funds are critical and will help us continue our life-saving programs, no matter what!
We had supporters complete their 5ks in California, on horseback in Wyoming, in the Texas heat, and up and down the East Coast! It was incredible to see everyone out there across the country with their Calvary masks and bibs showing the women at Calvary that they are not alone and that we are all In This Together. Calvary's friends, donors, and volunteers gave us a renewed sense of hope that together, we will get through this.

To see all of our supporters and the women at Calvary completing their 5ks, check out the video below!
COVID TAPESTRY: A Reminder and a Tribute
In the early weeks of the COVID lockdown, the women at Calvary started what they call the "COVID Tapestry". The tapestry is a standard bedspread set up on a quilting frame.

Initially only one or two women dabbled at embroidering symbols on the fabric but the project really took off after George Floyd’s death and became a project of inclusion and healing.
Inspiration came in the form of photos and quotes from African American leaders, and lessons learned in LEAP classes and Twelve Step programs. Staff and LEAP Facilitators were asked to contribute and some residents chose to note the racial unrest by including phrases like “Get your knee off my neck”.

It now hangs in the program room and will remain a reminder and a tribute to the community that watched the world shut down and supported one another through it all.
Volunteer Spotlight: The Junior League of Washington
The Junior League of Washington helped the women at Calvary celebrate Halloween through a virtual pumpkin decorating event!

Fun was had by all and the pumpkins can now be found throughout Calvary!

We are so grateful to have such dedicated and passionate volunteers that continue to find ways to show up and support the women living at Calvary.

Thank you, Junior League of Washington, for everything you do for the women at Calvary!
Corporate Partner Spotlight: CareFirst
Thank you to CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield for providing a $25,000 grant to Calvary through their 2020 COVID-19 Response and Relief Fund. This grant will directly support our daily operations as we keep women safe during this pandemic and empower them to end their homelessness for good.
